Side Marker Turn Signal Bulb Wiring?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a bulb out warning that I'm having a little difficulty tracking down. I started by checking the bulb; it was good. I then used vagcom to turn that light on for diagnostic purposes. I checked the wiring with my voltmeter and didn't find any voltage. Any idea where that wiring goes? I suppose I could have checked the ground wire for continuity. I didn't think of that until just now.

Just to be clear...this is the turn signal bulb that is mounted to the front fender near the driver side door.

Yea they both go into one of the plugs behind the kick panel at the bottom of the A pillar. From the other side of that plug they go straight to the Central Electric Module under the dash to the left of the steering column. Follow the colors of the wires and test for continuity from the bulb to that module.

Thanks for the info. I haven't checked the continuity yet on the hot circuit, but I did verify the ground is good.

So, just to add to the mystery of this. This car was converted from halogens to bi-xenons. I didn't do the conversion and I'm not sure exactly how it was done. I'm concerned that something with that may have something to do with the issue. It could be programming of the CEM or it could be wiring.

It's interesting that sometimes I get in the car and there are no errors. However, once I turn on the left turn signal, the error pops up. Other times when I get in the car, both the left and right turn signals immediate pop up with errors. I haven't checked to see if the right one works when I get the error, but I did get the right one to work when I turned it on via vagcom. I can't get the left one to work at all.

So both fender signals are in fact working normally or no?

And converted to OEM xenons? You can see if the previous owner maybe had eBay aftermarkets or some other in which they spliced/tap into the turn signal for trigger which could make an impact.

One fender light never works. The other one works sometimes.

I was told they were OEM Euro Bi-xenons. I'm not sure how the conversion was done.
