Just picked up a 2014 A6, my first Audi, and I love it. But the fact the garage door opener won't work when everything is shut down is driving me a little crazy, mostly because my wife makes fun of me every time I forget. Is there a setting somewhere to enable this? Thanks in advance!

That does drive me crazy. Still is an issue in my 16

Why would you want it to work when the car is off. That's a security issue?

If you go into your garage, you want to open the garage door before you start the car. Technically you could open it via the button in the garage. It's just one of those little annoyances.

After shutting off the car, one would like to close the garage door. One can either start the garage closing, before shutting off the engine or close the garage door after shutting off the car, with the wall switch after getting out of the car.

My last three German cars (2 Audi, 1 BMW) have all been like this. My most recent Japanese cars (2 Lexus and 1 Mazda) allow you to use the opener with the ignition off.

So someone can't get in your car and operate your garage door button, that's why

Also, many times I get home and park in the driveway, turning off the car before I remember to hit the garage door button. Fortunately, I have a garage door opener with an app, so I usually just pull out the phone and open it that way. Still, it would be nice if the buttons were active while the music is still playing before opening the door...

The old lady is driving her brother's Maxima and hates the fact that if she parks outside the garage, anyone can get in her car, push the button and open the garage door. I hit the close button and immediately after the door starts closing, I kill the ignition. When leaving in the am, I start the car and immediately open the door. I'll take that trade-off any day.

Or push the start/stop button without your foot on the brake. That way you power up the electrics without starting the engine. I do this all the time when I forget to push the HomiLink button before turning off the engine.

I wonder sometimes about how many times that MMI screen can go up and down before it hangs.

Or keep button active for say 30 seconds after turning off motor. That would be a nice feature.

You could always install a LiftMaster garage door opener, and add the myQ feature.

That way you can open and close your garage door from your mobile phone using their app. From anywhere in the world btw.

    Works great
