Got word from my shop today that GIAC will soon be releasing the new file. They requested my vin number to see if they needed to build a new file or the one in development could be used.

Almost definitely. You'll be lucky if they don't require you to buy their crank pulley as well.

...almost done. I'll post some impressions of it soon.

To answer some questions, I'm not sure of the pricing structure as I am one of the development ecu files so I can't comment on the final release. However, expect at least the standard $50 or so for labor/flash time. It doesn't require the purchase of any of their pullies, not even the AWE s/c pulley so if you have a different pull combo, it will work up to at least a 3.371 pulley ratio.

Guy at my shop said they installed one a few weeks ago. (Or at least, a custom GIAC tune for dual pulley.) Apparently quite a bit of $ not including hardware.

My local performance shop Crown Motorsports got me in touch with GIAC a month back. Contact your local GIAC dealer, but be prepared to log and send your file to them with many many different tables though...

I will find out for sure pretty soon if my last set of data logs I sent was enough for a few tables, however I know it still may need to be revised one or two more times due to the addition of their in-line fuel-pump kit that supplements the LPFP side (not really needed if you plan on sticking to the smaller crank pulley options, but recommended if you want to run more aggressive ethanol blends like I do so that I can run the race file).

In the meantime, it's been nice, easy, and the support/suggestions/feedback sharing back-n-forth from both parties during this entire time has been wonderful as they have been dedicated to this for a while now (but had to abandon the project it due un-related issues with their in-house development vehicle).

I didn't want to say much on here until my file was 100% finished to my liking, it was definitely hard to bite my tongue and keep quiet a few times about the file being created or in the works.

This great to hear. I'm going GIAC stage 2 on Monday with the AWE pulley. I'm also having a Fluidampr crankshaft (OEM) pulley installed at the same time. Then upgrade once this new file is released to a bigger crankshaft pulley and coldfront system. At least I hope it will be that easy to go dual pulley

so far, the timing table is very very thick if fueling can keep up with it (pressures, quantity, quality, octane) and should/will make it to the standard production file across the board like GIAC's previous files aside from variances such as how it requests hPa (certain pre-facelift files are already dual-pulley ready from the get-go such as Mrmommo's file that looks as though it was already designed for a 57.55mm/194mm before the concept of a 194mm even existed lol.

Hi Rex, If you could, you may just spring for the larger crank pulley at the same time to save labor unless it's too late. The file should be built for others and eventually roll out. Some GIAC stage II files will allow for larger crank pullies without boost by-pass.

I think it may be too late. I may be able to get them to overnight a bigger pulley They told me that it doesn't take long to install a larger pulley onto the Fluidampr and you don't need to take the car out of service. I was kind of waiting till I got a Cold Front system installed. Would there be any octane changes because Ill be running primarily 93 I don't even know if they sell E85 around here. Let me know what you think. If you think Ill be ok Ill try and have them express ship a bigger one. I think they have a 189mm

Understood. AWE told me their ColdFront system is way back ordered so I most likely wont be getting that done till after winter. But thank you and this is all very exciting news!!!

You could always go the PLM route. Some say PLM OEMs it for AWE. Not sure though.

Good to hear Loe, but do you have pistons flecks on your spark plugs from that thick timing...lol

I do not, nor have I seen anything related to it. Even after my sparkplug mishap a few weeks back where I had my mechanic pull a broken plug and had I make sure there wasn't any metal that fell into the cylinder via using a scope for video. All clean on my end

Looking forward to this. I'm GIAC Stage 2 and already have the PLM (but it's not installed yet).
Next summer want to go dual pulley but didn't want a Chipwerke or have to change to a different flash to make the most out of it.

^^ and from a file that every GIAC owner will be able to access with the right fueling across the board so all can enjoy the power, and still have all OEM safeties and knock sensors unaltered for reliable and aggressive power that delivers, even for its non-beta testers...

...dropped my car off this morning to get the fuel-pump kit installed + additional custom non-GIAC related hardware. The updated software/file is there to install as well as promised by GIAC, hoping the logs look great when I pick her up this evening or tomorrow or Monday.

I know it sucks, but meth makes a huge difference. Add a basic AEM kit and let it eat, I can kiss my charger after a 1-4th pull its that cold.

Can't wait to hear more about this! Is there any more info around on the fuel pump kit? Will this help those running a mix of e85 and 91/93 on the race tune? Pretty cool if so... I always get paranoid about having too much e85 in there, so I've only been doing the mix every 3-4 fill ups.

The fuel kit was designed with higher mixing in mind, so yes absolutely it will help out.

That's interesting, I hope they have one for A6 as well.
I am local to GIAC, and contacted them before and was told they are not working on it.
I think I even offer my car for help, oh well.
That's see if they will have it release for A6 also.

The file is at my shop, however with the addition of a the fuel kit + another hardware they want me to re-log to see if they need to revise that file and resend a revision on it based on the new logs, which I completely agree with.

....The delay is on my part, I keep adding new stuff to the mix I think mrmommo will get his final file revision before me at this rate lol.

As for the fuel kit. I'm sure GIAC will release more information once they are comfortable with its performance/capabilities.

Eventually, its still warm in FL this time of year, but we should see D/A's hover more around 1,000-1,200ft near the end of Oct/Nov for me to attend and try for a good time, but our break doesn't come until Dec-Feb when D/A's hover around 300-500ft with a few negative D/A's here and there that always manage itself around opened track days ...also March/April there are a few chilly days here and there.

Me and my buddy were talking about meth injection yesterday while looking over jrans meth vs no meth log. We were confused at why the meth didn't drop the iats more and figured he wasn't injecting enough. What blend and size nozzle are you using to get your blower that cool? Progressive controller?

Ive got lots of pm's over this as of late. Your right, simply not enough is being injected the blower turns the meth/water to vapor instantly being a giant flame thrower on DP setups. Ive run meth daily on my cars for 10 years being a turbo guy like most I was very puzzled using nozzle sizes Ive used in the past. I started with 500ml/min on an Iabed industries TB plate I had Issam make me, then jumped up to the 1000ml/min. Then added a second nozzle like S4matty in the intake pipe and added the 250ml/min. Thats when I started to see my delta drop significantly across a 1-4th pull. I even tried a 1000 + 500 nozzle to run the giac race file on pump but its still not enough because the meth simply doesn't make it to the motor and I dont want to pull the blower to add a meth plate right now.

edit: just checked my logs, IATS where 42 at the start and 65 letting off in 5th (I shift 5th a lot now crossing the line in the 1320).

That was the only thing that made sense as to why the iats werent dropping more...thanks for clearing that up brotha! Are you running 100% meth or blending with distilled water? I'm going to be adding a meth setup to my car ASAP to help battle the pd inferno. Those are great Iats for a full pass and your mph shows it. Unfortunatly I'm also shifting into 5th before crossing the line, but I'm going to adjust the shift rpm in hopes to avoid it.

you guys and your shorter geared B8's .... I'm still happily in 4th by the time I shut it down...

That IAT delta is very nice indeed! Looks to be solved so far with his meth set-up
