I have been working a bit on designing a shift knob. Typical ricer cars that take an M10 thread on knob have it easy, we have it Audi, so a little more design is required than gluing an M10 nut into your favorite dildo and threading it on. Since we have that clamp-on boot and knob combo, I am going to make a simple threaded adapter with set screws to lock it onto the shifter shaft. The boot slides over this and then the knob threads onto the adapter. Simple, right? Exactly. I still need to cut off the one-time-use clamp to free the current knob and then finalize measurements. I should be able to scrounge up some aluminum stock somewhere on campus and then start making some chips. If this is something people are interested in, follow along and I would be happy to share prints and/or make more for people if it works/there is interest.
Design Requirements:
Use stock boot/surround
Returnable to stock (My car is on it's way out and I want to take this with me)
Easy to install
