doing track day with apr stage 1

Has anyone taken their S6 that has APR stage 1 upgrade to the track. I will have about 12 25 minute sessions on the track over a two day period. I'm thinking of just running it in stock mode instead of performance mode for fear of breaking something. Am I just being a chicken?

Sounds like fun! You might want to go ahead and order new tires, brakes and rotors so you can have them installed immediately after the track sessions.

Why would you spend all the money on a tune just to deactivate it at the one place you can legally take advantage of the extra power? And why would you start yourself with a disadvantage at a race track? That's crazy talk. Don't talk crazy :)

Do many people here really track their C7? Drag strip, yes.....but a track? This really isn't a track car. Way too much of a land barge for that.

Tracked mine numerous times with stage 1. On both a sweeping open track and a very hard braking track. No issues. It's a heavier car so that hurts both the track and strip but its a huge amount of fun. Brakes are brilliant for road pads and don't fade even when used very hard on a hard brake track but if you do they won't feel the same back on the road. If your going to do it often, get full track pads (message me if interested on what I use) for the front and use your old rotors for track. 1hr and you can change your car front brake pads and rotors over. Equally getting RSpec track tyres helps. Road tyres won't wear out for 1 track day (nor will pads or rotors) but if you drive hard you will wear out the edges of the groves and add road noise etc. Very hard braking can wear out the very inside of the front tyres. Make sure you do a cool down lap and leave the car running after coming in and dont use the hand brake. Have fun.

I have taken my s7 and previous rs6 both tuned to multiple audi owners event and had a blast. Drove it 3 hours to it, tracked and drove 3 hours home. Don't have to change tires, brakes nothing. These cars are close to bullet proof.

I have been to over a dozen track events with my 2012 A6. My first couple where with the car completely stock. It does handle really good with the stock sport suspension but there is always room for improvement. It is a blast and will improve your driving skills. My sig details the mods that I have made.

I'm with you, but we both have Porsches in the garage for that duty.

Had the s6 out for a 2 day track event. Had so much fun. Was really amazed at the brakes. Going down straits at plus 125mph anticipating a sharp down hill turn took some getting used to but after trusting the baking power I was executing well. Through the turns I could feel the weight of the car but easing into the throttle I could feel the sports differential help me through the turns. Ran it in stock mode and performance mode with not much difference in lap times. My last four laps I was within 3 tenths of a second between lap times. Can't wait for next track event.
