    2014 RS5 - Need tire suggestions... Anyone running the Nitto NT555 g2's?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK, I need some tire help from RS5 owners... My car: 2014 RS5, Currently on stock 20s with the stock Pzeros at 18k miles. I'm lowered on coilovers and 12mm spacers in front, 10mm in rear. I'm in the south so I don't have to worry about cold weather, snow, etc BUT it rains here alot, so wet traction is a concern. I do NOT track the car (no track nearby) so that's not really a concern.

After researching the forums for days I was sold on the pilot SS but apparently as most of you know they are nowhere to be found. So, my mechanic was telling me about the new Nitto NT555 g2's. Does any one on here have any experience with them?

If not, anything OTHER than pilot SS that would be better over a new set of P Zeros? I bought the car used so I haven't experienced the Pirelli's new but from what I've read on here it seems like the general consensus is they aren't very good... (Please correct me if I'm wrong) I've considered the potenza re760s, but are they really better than the p zero's?

Also, I've seen a few posts about people running 285/30/20 Pilot ss on the stock 20s, but couldn't find the answer: does anyone run them with their cars lowered/spaced? If so, any rubbing issues?

    Any help is appreciated.

I went with Pilot Super Sports on my S5 but they WERE available in my 255- 35- 19 size . My second choice would have been Continental DW. (Not DWS) They are a summer max performance tire that is rated nearly as high as the Pilot Super Sport and higher than the P Zeros that you ( and I) had. The Conti DW is very good in rain. I had two sets on a mk1 TT and would not hesitate to buy them again. The DWS is a good tire. I have them on a Q7. They are a high performance all season tire though. I would not use them on an RS5 unless it saw occasional snow duty.
FYI I got 18000 miles from the P Zeros too.

DW is not available for the 20 inch rim (At least on Tire rack). What is the reluctance to using DWS?

They are fine. Quiet, smooth, long life but they are not the performance tire that the DW or the PSS is. Really depends on usage. If crispness and ultimate dry grip is less important and wet traction and long life are priorities, then they could be the best choice.

Thanks. for your input. I've gotten 27K miles out of my P zeros so it tells you that although I do like to take the windy roads once in a while I really do not push the car as much as I should. I also like to have the option to drive the car up to the mountains during the winter and have not done so because of the summer performance tires. BTW, I did not like the DWS on our Q7. Have since put on the Pirelli scorpion ice and snows and have been amazed at how well they have performed in the summer here in Northern California. Really quiet and amazingly responsive.

Yeah I am on the continental website now, the only thing they are showing they offer is the DWS for the RS in the 20s. I really wasn't trying to go the all season tire route as it NEVER snows down here (Southern Alabama).

I personally would order the Pilot's and wait for them to come in if possible. Discount tire in Pensacola has done a good job of finding them for me.

There are tracks near by. You've got Nola motorsports park outside New Orleans and Barber in Birmingham. We also do autocrosses in Mobile and Pensacola.

I'm in Pensacola. You should bring your car out to Pensacola Cars and Coffee this Saturday from 8:00 - 10:00. I would love to see it. Should have over 400 cars this weekend, and probably not one RS5. Should be some S5's and S4's and TT's there. I'll have my S5 there.

Ive got to act soon (as in 10 min ago I told my mechanic to order me some RE760s). My tires are in BAD shape.

I always forget about Nola. Where in Mobile do you go? Only place I know here is the dragstrip in Irvington.

Man, thanks for the invite. TBH it probably won't happen this weekend... kind of worried about interstate driving with my current tire situation. Do y'all get together often?

No problem. It's the 4th Saturday of every month. I generally go if I'm not at an autocross or track day. Hope to see you out there. Let me know if you need directions. The facebook page is the official Pensacola cars and coffee. Usually a group gets together from Mobile and heads over.

I have the PSS 285, in fact I'm on my second set and there is no rubbing. I am stock on my suspension, etc. I just bought a pair from discount tire. Go in and ask them to call around. Takes a few minutes but they can usually find a pair. Go in during the week, during the day though, not a Saturday. Michelin is not open on the weekends.
