Inspired by all the turbo talk lately.
We have two B7's with around 125k miles each. One with mods in signature and one with a Stg 1 tune. Both with stock K03's
Both recently started with a noise around 3000-4000 RPM and mostly in warmer temps - best way I can describe it is a metallic noise as a card running through a bike spoke and it comes with a bit of black smoke. From what I can read it could very well be wastegate rattle? Could that be fixed with the famous wastegate adjustment? Any other ways to diagnose? I still feel we have plenty of boost. I can run logs if needed.
I have a rebuilt K03 from Tim's Turbo's being delivered anytime soon that I can try and swap in but wanted to try the wastegate adjustment first if that would save me some time and effort.
Let me know.
