    Another wheel question...20's

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just lowered my car and I love the look, but I have a set of 20's I want to put on the car. I am currently running OEM RS4 wheels (19x9 ET57 with a 255/35/19) and have no issues at all, even with the car being lower now. I tried to test fit the 20' and it did not even come close to fitting because it hit the suspension arm. It is a 20x8.5 ET33 with a 255/45/20. Do any of you know if I switch the tires to 255/30/20 that they will work. I did the calculations and by going with a 30 sidewall on the 20 inch wheel I will actually make the overall diameter smaller (26.03 for the 19' and 26.02 for the 20') The offset is low at ET33 and that is where I want to know if I would clear the fender. I would think that having the rim only be 8.5 wide that it would help with the poke. Any thoughts? Can anyone confirm or is anyone running this set up? Thank you.

FWIW, your tires on the 19s should be 255/35/19, I'm really surprised that 45s even work. The stock 18s for your car run: 245/40R18 tires, therefore if you are wanting to run 20s you'd be needing to run the following, based upon STOCK sizing: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...0r18-255-30r20. That doesn't mean you can't run larger than stock (i.e. 35), but there's no way 45 would work. BTW, ET 33, should work fine, since I've run +35 with no issue

Wow I just looked through a picture. Youre right....I have 35's right now. So that would mean I would have to run a 30 sidewall.

Any thoughts on keeping a 35 sidewall? I may mount a 255/35/20 and check clearances tomorrow. I just do not want to rub under any conditions. Not too fond of a 30 sidewall.

No idea, but it will be 1/2" taller and it will be tight for sure. There are a few folks who've ran 20s on this forum and some of which who've gone back to something more comfortable - especially since with so little sidewall you are going to be in a rather

i have a 20x9 wheel with a +34 offset and i rubbed on the area where the rear bumper met the rear quarter panel when running a 245/35. Now i went to 255/30 and i rub somewhere inside the fender so its a bunch of trial and error. but your best bet is a 30 series tire.

Damn....I may just bail on the 20's and stick with the 19 RS4's. Kind of disappointing but I do not really want to lose the comfort that the car has. Anyone interested in brand new 20's? haha
