Hey guys, just wondering if its normal in a 3.0 for an air sound to hiss one you rev the car and take your foot off the gas in neutral or park. I have been having issues for quite some time with power loss, intermident rough idle and other stuff I thought was vacuum related, I have since replaced most of the vacuum lines that I can see even replaced the pcv valve but am still getting the same issues. Is this a common thing? or would I have a massive air leak somewhere I can't see. Also it seems to be effecting my braking capacity with the brakes juddering when coming to a stop only around town not on the motorway. This car always leaves me stumped .

Sounds like a vacuum leak for sure. Could also be a broken PCV line. I recently had a torn diaphragm on the intake runner actuator on the front of the manifold which was causing a big leak. I vote you smoke test the vacuum and PCV system and see what you find.

Sounds like a broken vacuum line on the valve cover or, and, intake.

Good luck, post what you find

Okay got a update. I ended up scanning it with VCDS as i have access to it through a friend. First off i went to the measuring block section of the program and scanned block 032, after resetting the info i started the car and during idle the values did not raise above 0. Then i went to scan the car which is when it came up with two errors i have never seen before, i usually do scan the car so they freaked me the hell out at first!

The first error was 17550 Load calculation cross check, p1142- 002 lower limit exceeded - intermittent which i have no idea about and have no clue what it means however the other code can be considered arguably worse cause was in regards to the trans. I have never had a code pop up for it before :(. The code showed was 17125 Torque converter clutch p0741 - 003 - stuck off / no power being transmitted, this also came with some additional info about revs and temp so me thinking i could have a more serious issue up the alley, went to my transmission guy who serviced the box around 8 thousand ks ago. I got him to check the oil level from underneath just cause i have heard that the code could relate to low fluid, he however reckons the fluid level is perfect and recommended that i might have a issue with my TCU or the sensor on the throttle body. So know im pretty stumped.

BTW after resetting the codes the car seemed to drive a hell of a lot better but still had the usual issues. Still haven't gotten around to trying a smoke test.
