    HELP!

So about a month ago, my 2007 Audi A4 b7 showed "safe" mode on the instrument cluster where the total miles would be. It happened because I bought a used OEM fob shell from eBay and I put my old circuit board and key blade into the fob I bought and I guess the programming was lost in the process. Well we called a locksmith who allegedly claimed he could remove the safe mode from the car and get it running again. He tried and he gave me some bs story on how we needed to wait 24 hours for the computor to restart and he would come back the next day to finish the process. He never came back. Now on the instrument cluster it reads " L0 7-0" instead of "safe". The dealer told us it's a possibility that the "Stability Control Steering Angle Sensor" and the "Steering Wheel column Control Module" need replacing (almost $2,000 quote) but they aren't 100% sure that will fix the problem. Has anyone ever came across this problem with the "L0 7-0" code showing up on the instrument cluster? Or does anyone have a solution to this problem? Please help!

Did you move the little grey security chip across from the old fob to the new one? If not, that is the issue.

    HELP!

Where is it located? When I opened them, all that was inside was the circuit board, everything else was just shell. Audi also told me that there was no communication between their program and the car. They said the lock smith most likely did something wrong to cause the car to stop communication and cause the "L0 7-0" code to come up instead of "SAFE".

Your "locksmith" is an idiot. Okeydokey is not. He's all over it. I don't know what that loser did to your car, but you did need to bring over the chip. See here for more pics:

    HELP!

Thanks you for the suggestions! I ended up swapping the chips but the instrument cluster still reads the "L0 7-0" code. Does anyone know what that could mean? I don't want to waste money getting the car towed to the dealer only for them to tell me the same thing.

Remove the battery cables, and connect them together for 30 minutes. Then replace and try again.

Call Tom at Speedometer Solutions. Good guy. Lots of people here have done business with him. This is what he does. He might be able to tell you right away what that code means, and whether you can still transfer the chip over from the old key fob and get this working again.
