Ok guys, I'm trying to help a fellow AZer get his B7 back to normal and I'm kinda stumped by this... He has had the N80 valve replaced by someone else but not me but very recently so I don't know anything about that, we did the N75 today and still have these four codes (I'm not sure about the definitive codes as I forgot to save them after clearing the first ones as at first we had seven)

I cannot remember if the one above or below was the last code but I'm 75% sure it was the one above but because I'm not positive I'm leaving the one below as possibly being related but honestly I believe it is the four above this line

We have not taken out the DV but have the latest revision and are planning on taking the current one out to see if it is a diaphragm and is torn or not, could DV cause this?

Car is a 2006, 105K on it, he had gradually been losing more and more power which now there is no power at all, the turbo definitely is not boosting, any suggestions are much appreciated

Anybody? I know I need the definitive codes but the first three are the correct ones, what would cause N75 and N80 codes to be showing up with brand new ones in there..? Would the DV cause these weird codes to show up? I cant find anything useful about how to tell when the DV is bad, just people saying to unplug the N75 which is useless as the code already shows for it and the car already has no boost whatsoever so that wouldn't help, which I'm not guessing points to the DV... Could the wastegate need adjusting? What are the signs of wastegate being out of adjustment other than reduced boost? As there is no boost from a feeling standpoint. I was very tired of fighting the car after doing the N75 for 3 fcking hours so I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't do any testing with the vag-com, I guess ill just pull the DV and see what it looks like and get the actual codes and read more info with the vag-com and report back... Any suggestions is a good one at this point. Thanks

Electrical issues. Check everything is plugged in correctly and fuses are not blown.

Didn't think of checking fuses but everything was plugged in and if it were something like that why would there have been a degredation in performance? Wouldn't that produce more of an instant loss of power and these issues coming up? I'm going to him tomorrow to check the DV and will make sure everything is plugged in and check the fuses as well as doing some digging with vag com, any other suggestions of things to investigate whilst I'm there? Could the turbo itself being either damaged or having an issue cause these codes?

This is most definitely an electrical issue. First question I would ask is if the car sat for more than a month in a given location. If so, rats may have created a home under the hood and chewed through some wires. Start with the fuses, get a wiring schematic, and begin working your way to the actual sensors themselves looking for an open circuit.

Alright will do, I did notice when I went for a ride in it the other day it smelled like mice while hvac system was on but I didn't ask him about it, should I even take out the DV then?

I'm guessing by plugs you mean connectors? We see no obvious chewed wires or anything unplugged, any ideas about what sensors would be related to this? I will post the actual codes in a minute or two

Hey I had a similar problem on my car check the heat wrap it goes from the vacuum pump to the air box and around down to the turbo. Check for any signs of cracking in the heat wrap for this harness. Here's something I found when I found a little bit of cracks in my heat wrap.

Thanks for the info, we tried checking that and felt along it the whole way trying to find anything wrong with the heat wrap, followed them all to the ecu and decided maybe there was a loose bit in the ecu box, opened up the ecu box as much as we could without being able to get the wiper arm off look in there and saw that there were fuses... After struggling to get the arm off unsuccessfully we just pried open the box, put a multimeter on the fuses and sure enough one was blown. Thanks for the suggestion okeydokey as we would've never even considered electrical/fuse issues. Its really idiotic that Audi doesn't list fuses being in with the ecu either. Thanks for the help guys

    Sorted Okeydoky!!

Thanks first to Pezgoon for his good work on the car, it's been a bit of a pain to say the least.

But then thanks to you Okeydoky and everyone else who pointed us in the electrical direction which we hadn't even considered.

    Happy A4 and happy wife.

    Cheers

And apologies for dropping an 'e' from your name.

I also echo the frustration of a manual that makes no mention of additional fuses in the ECU box.

    Your welcome

P.s. I forgot to ask before I left if you had wanted me to change any programming using my vag-com cable (things like seat belt chime door locks etc) in either the A6 or the A4, if you do want things changed you can just let me know, maybe we could meet midway in Salem since its about halfway for both of us!

I'm sure the wife is very happy with it now lol

Yes, she's delighted to not feel like sticking feet through the floor and driving like the Flintstones would be quicker.

That's a really nice offer and I appreciate but in terms of windows, roof, locks, dial sweep etc, I can cover that with the Carista app I have.

It's very much a poor man's vagcom with only a fraction of the possibilities but for the simple stuff, it's good bang for buck.

    Thanks again!
