    K04 rebuild/repair

    Guys,
I'm looking at buying a local stage 3 S4 with a blown turbo (because one S4 isn't keeping me busy enough). The owner said he was accelerating when he heard a pop followed by white smoke then the dentist drill screeching.
I'm aware of the potential issues caused by turbo parts entering the intake. I'm wondering what options I have as far as getting the turbos repaired/rebuilt. Is that something that is recommended, or would you replace with new?(ouch). Are there any companies or members here that you recommend to rebuild/repair the turbo? My goal is more quality, longevity.
    Thanks

I had a turbo rebuilt at Midwest Turbo Connection. It is fairly local to me and did a good job.

This may help give you some insight on the rebuild side: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...r_Rebuild.htm#

You could buy a pair of chra's. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141988655572...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

If you replace the chra essentially you're putting brand new guts in the turbo and reusing the original housings.

Or you could send your turbo/turbos out to a rebuilder like midwest listed by the above poster.

Thanks for the links. I'm pretty sure I'm going to replace the CHRA's with new BW units. I'm tempted to do it myself. I just don't want to muck up $900 in new parts.

I did it. Not very hard at all. Hardest part is breaking the things apart initially. The locking tabs need to be rotated first rather than the bolts.

Also just need to make sure you mark them so that they're clocked properly before re-installation.
