I emailed this company that sells these LED boards that replace the LED strips in the facelight lights.

The new board has switch back LED and wiring so that it turns the DRL LED to LED AMBER for the turn signals. Pretty cool I think.

The product is $245, but I was able to negotiate a Group Buy Price of $172.80 Which is $72 savings roughly. I was able to negotiate a price reduction with a discount code so we can individually purchase it as the group buy rate retaining individual purchases. I didn't want to have to order 10 and then mail them out.

So, here's the deal. We have to have 10 orders. So I'm starting this thread to try and get at least 10 people. It doesn't have to be today, I told the company it could take a week. See the linked thread for emails of our conversation.

I'm thinking that may be the route I go as well. It'll take months to find a group of facelift C6s that are willing to cut open their headlights. If they were bakeable it'd probably be a different story

I'll confess I'm one of the reluctant facelifted.

I love the look of the product.

But I'm very reluctant to open mine in this way and, I'd want to be very sure the product was going to provide years of flawless service before committing. The thought of reopening for a fault worries me.

That said, I really hope it works out for you guys.

I found a couple of used headlight assemblies where the LEDs weren't working and bought them on the cheap, looks like everything else is in good shape but the bad LEDs turned it into a pretty cheap purchase so I'll be able to take my time w/ cutting them open and replacing the boards and sealing them back up. Then when that is all done I can take a saturday and swap them for the stockers and we'll see how everything goes from there. I'm aware this might blow up in my face and am willing to take the chance to go from pre-facelift lights to a nice set of facelifts with turn signal functionality. I'm sure this won't be a fast process but that's ok.

I just sent another email, telling them that we only have 4 people and unfortunately the others want to wait until ours are installed to see how they hold up.
I also asked about getting the discount for the 4 to 178 irrc and if not we are willing to purchase at 216. I was expecting 216ish to be the final discount anyway so im not terribly worried about that...

Yeah, I really need to pull the trigger on at least one facelift headlight. Even if it doesn't have adaptive feature I need to open one up to start the work of figuring out the projector swap options.
Money just so ridiculously tight.

This is me asking a very stupid question I'm sure, but I'm curious.

On another thread on here, the situation regarding pre facelift cars is discussed and I've attached a screenshot of what appears to be a relevant comment.

If this is true and the DRL on pre facelift wiring will not allow them to be on when the low beam is, has anyone checked if the directionals will function when the low beam is on?

Mick- you bring up a good point for those wanting to transition from pre-facelift lights. If the LED DRLs won't work when the headlights are on, then it stands to reason that the turn signal function will not work as well.
The "board" that was referenced in your post is the control module for the headlights. For post facelift lights to work as designed on a pre-facelift car you would need to get the control module from a post facelift car or order it from Kuftec. They run about $500.
Anyone doing the LED mod on post facelift cars will have no issue.

Sin, I may have missed the post but have you figured how to activate the sweeping blinker from inner LED to the outer? Are there instructions of any sort or a how to video?

I'm not sure if that will be an issue since I would assume that the power for the turn signal part of the LED board would come on when the turn signal is used so it is initiated by a different source. So it may not be on regularly while driving with the headlights on but it is still possible that the turn signal will still blink through the LEDs. I guess I'll find out when I get all the parts together and try to put this thing to work. I'll update this thread on my progress and what I find does or doesn't work when I get into the nuts and bolts of this. This might be a complete waste for a pre-facelift car and if so then I'll sell them on to someone w/ a post facelift after I've done all the work to the headlights so that they are just straight plug and play. We'll see what happens.

I believe the power for the amber function is pulled from the turn signal, so it would still signal even if its off. And honestly, If Im wiring this already I would rather pull the main led power from somewhere else as well that way when I turn the car on, (headlights on or off) the LED drl
is on, and when the headlights come on it powers down to low mode. Theres an extra wire that is a trigger wire for the low mode, which I myself would pull from the parking light bulb wire....
On Pre-Facelift cars it should have been expected to have to wire this manually because the car didn't come with these features unless you install the module etc....

Here's the wiring photos, it appears you have to run the turn signal to the original turns even on facelifts... How else would it know to trigger that?

Awesome, I'm talking with them right now via email and seeing if we can get a discount on the 3rd A7 style brake light...

I am going to have to scope out ebay for some facelift lights around $100/each and see if I can score those. I'm sorry I am not leading this but since i'm going to buy the led boards I just don't have
the money to buy the headlights. I'm working on selling a project bmw I have and if that goes I'll be able to order everything all at once....

No worries, I think your best bet tho is to go to car-part.com that's where I found the 2nd headlight and they have a ton of them

Okay, so got an email back and they said they can't discount the 3rd brake light down but that they will keep the led boards for the headlights discounted for us for a little bit.. Hey... $216 is better than $250 so at least we got that.

So i was browsing ebay and man, what a crazy retrofit would this be....

Acura rdx LED headlights, imagine fabing those into our housing. It would totally change the look. Obviously a total beat and custom work but if I ever have the time and money to mess with something like that I'd love to.

I have both headlights in my living room now, LED boards were ordered yesterday sI it'll be a week or 2 till I get them so that gives me sometime to mark out where I need to cut them open and get the epoxy. Hopefully this will be all done before thanksgiving since I'll be deer hunting a few weekends too.

Shouldn't throw any errors. Like you said, your tapping into the brake light wire. It looks like it's cob led... But if you'd like Ill ask them, obviously you can email them as well.
They said they can't discount it because its one of their new products.
