So had my mechanic take a closer look to front end today since I've been having noise up there for some time and can not find the source of it. Called me back this afternoon and said after some time of looking at the struts and shaking down the front end and transmission (just replaced mounts on transmission about a month back, still missing the bar that goes along bottom, can't find a replacement sold anywhere). He said that after a little while he found a little play in the lower control arms, more noticeable the left side than right, with some pressure he could get it to click a little, so he was saying that it was his best guess. So, I guess it's time to do arms even though I've owned the car less than 5,000 miles. So do I Just do lowers or do all of them? Do I replace other things with the arms? and what tools do I need for the job? I can wrench a bit and seen a few guides, all looks like a lot of work, maybe over my head, limited on tools so not sure if I can do this myself. I noticed that a few guys dropped out the shocks (is this normal? hard to put back in?).
*as a side note*: I am a little budget minded as I have an oil leak to chase down still in the car, looking like maybe turbo lines or a bad seal or two. depending on location of leak I could be in the market for doing a timing belt/water pump job at the same time.
-All advice needed and helpful, thank you peoples.
