so I was at the junkyard yesterday looking for a metal clutch master cylinder so I can make a custom line to my slave cylinder. Checked every audi or vw with no luck. But saw this saab! It was a manual:)! Score looked at the master cylinder and wow it's will work with some custom fabing.

Somedude. I bought another brake pedal for the a8 and it fits on the clutch side I just had to cut it to size. But it fits works great. I am still building the pedals but I should have the clutch working vary soon.! Ps the master cylinder from the Saab. Has a internal spring an a small return spring. So it's will be cake. Let me know if you need a better photo of something.
Also make sure your car ecu is a me7.1.1 this ecu has the manual file in it already. Just need it coded.

So got some work done yesterday but not nearly enough. A buddy came over with his 05 w12 with a blown air strut. I replaced it with his coolest expansion tank it fixed his problem. The leak was coming out of the top of the strut were the sensor came out.

Ok so don't do drill the hole for the master cylinder there!! It needs to be bottom left to clear the brake booster:( no I will have to make a reinforcement mounting plate for it:( but that's not hard just more time

ok so the hard part is done. I will make a dead bolt so the pedal won't wear out the master cylinder. I have a return spring that I still have to fab.

Just sent out my ecu today to get coded for the 6 speed:) I'll have it back in a week. Early next week I'll send out my axle and drive shaft to get extended. Drive shaft needs to be extended 4 1/2 inches and the axel needs to be 26 3/4 inches long. I measured from end of the splines in side the hub to the flange on the transmission. I have all road axels to they can extend and shorten more then normal axels. Due to the fact that allroad has adjustable ride hight.

Update. Car is almost back together, engine covers and air box all put back and wiped down. Kinda disappointed as the elbow from the air box to air pipe has a huge hole from previous owner over tightening the clamp:( so I need a new elbow. Also the smaller hose from air box to I think sai pipe is internally coming apart.

So I would do the swap but I would only buy the transmission only and not the full swap kit off of eBay. The only thing I used was the transmission the rear end and one axle so all the other stuff I wasted money on:( if you have any questions on this swap I can help you out. Its was easy for me but lots of work. I probably pulled the transmission out 5 times. I am finished with the car but waiting on a shop to do my wiring! I can do it but I would rather have the comfort of everything being right so I can drive my family around safely.

ok so I noticed my shift boot wasn't holding the way I did it the first time. So on to a new boot clamp that will get pop rivets and the bottom plate will get welded to the shifter mount. Let's hope this idea works lol

Just picked up my D2 A few months ago, feel like I might be going down this path eventually.

Thanks for documenting, have a few questions for you however.

    1.
Any reason why you didnt just use an OEM Master?
That way you wouldnt have to cut through the firewall plate - Just two holes for fluid lines.
    https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal...ad-p-2217.html

    2. What clutch did you use? 4.2 RS4 (07)?
2 1/2. did you use a spacer plate for the trans?

    3. Any reason why a a4 a6 shifter box wouldn't fit in the center console?

    4. I read in another thread that the S8 Rear Differential for Auto trans is the Same Ratio as the 01E. Can you confirm?

    5. The 01E I have came from a 2001 S4. - What are the chances the mount brackets are correct.

How many hours of labor is needed to complete the swap?
I would like to do it but i would have to hire somebody to do it.

The a4 a6 shifter box wouldn't fit. But I am sure a earlier one would. I got everything out of a 2.7t all road. I used the clutch that came with the trans. I am still wiring the car been super busy. I do not know about the s8 rear end gear. My car is a A8l so I just used the rear that matched the tranny I got. I used the spacer plate it bolts up but I had to notch the spacer plate for the lower starter bolt. I used the master out of the sabb because I was at the junk yard and found it for 10$. It was easy. The a6 pedal assembly won't fit at all. It was just way easier to buy a brake pedal and slide it onto the pedal mount. It's already set up for a clutch pedal. I can not comment on any fitment of any other car parts. I just made what I had work. The s4 mounts might bolt up I don't know though. I hope this helps. Once you start it was easy
