Long story short, while replacing the 24 LEDs in my instrument cluster, I accidentally turned on the IMMO3 -system. (The LEDs are nice, but car won't start..)
1. One solution would be to fix the reason for the activated immo -system
a) For instance, by using VCDS + the secret 5-digit pin code and recode all keys. The problem is this doesn't work for me, even when following key recoding procedures (for Immobilizer integrated in Instrument Cluster: Instruments, Login (0+4-digit pin), Adaptation (Channel 21, enter new nr of keys, save, return, exit. Repeat for all keys within 60 sec.
b) Another could be to use the faults reported by VCDS to identify the potential reasons, such as 17978- Engine Start Blocked by Immobiliser, P1570- 35-00; 01128 - Immobilizer Pickup Coil (D2) 35-10 Intermittent, or 01176- Key 07-00 - Signal to Low. For instance, key battery replacement and Green+Blue+Grey cable check connectors, testing the pickup coil, and checking battery at least 12.5 V during programming.
2. Using an Emergency Engine Start Procedure for Audi/VW.
a) Ex. Insert key into the ignition and turn the switch to "Run". Twist the knob for the Clock in the clockwise direction + press reset button for the Trip Odometer Counter. The Odometer counter should have all zero's and the first zero should be blinking. To set the first number, press the reset button for the trip odometer until the first number of your Secret Code appears.
Doesn't seem to work on my mode. As far as I know the Emergency starts does not work on all models (immo3 and newer).
b) Using a hack, such as disconnecting the battery, leaving the key in the run position for 10 minutes, etc. Again, didn't work for me.
3. Disabling / deactivating the IMMO -system
Pulling out the Engine ECU EEPROM and locating the chip tagged 95040 (or similar) and desoldering the 8-pin chip.
a) With special equipment reading the 8-pin chip bin-file, making hex edits, reflashing the bin file in boot mode, and desoldering the chip.
b) Sending the chip to a tuning services pay a fee, and desoldering the chip.
4. Using a sw tool to read and reprogram (disable) the IMMO-chip via the OBD-II connector
NefMoto?
5. Buying a used instrument cluster and swapping it
Presuming the error that triggers the IMMO is in the cluster. Ross-tech has good procedures for this.
