    A7 3.0T EPL Dual Pulley E85 1/4 Mile

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I finally got my car out to the dragstrip after switching to EPL back in April. Here are the results and car specs:

    2012 A7
    EPL Dual Pulley e85 file
Awe 57mm SC pulley + 180mm ATI (GMG) pulley
ITG Filter in OEM RS7 Airbox
    OEM S7 Rear mufflers
    Auto tech hpfp
4385 lbs car weight with driver
    STOCK COOLING

12.26 @111mph was fastest et of 3 runs. 1765 DA at Sacramento Raceway. It was about 88* ambient on the first run and 91* on the last run.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the results as the last time I ran in the spring with GIAC Stage 2, my best time was 13.0 @105mph at a 650 DA.

Thanks to Tony and Chris at EPL, we've come a long way. So close to 11s!

Very nice, I just switched to EPL as well and these guys are tops. I had a cold start misfires with Unitronic but none since moving to EPL

    This is E85?
I was expecting to be slightly faster.
Doesn't the E85 file pushes well over 500hp crank?

It would be slightly faster in lower temps, better prep, cool down time etc. I don't know exact chp, but if you use dragtimes go calculator, fwiw, it estimates my crank hp at about 480. Our C7s are freaking heavy.

That time is similar to stock S6/7.
Did you ever try the S2 GIAC race map before?

Never ran it on race file at the track. To clarify, there was nothing wrong with GIAC, I just wanted something different.

I want to go dual pulley when the temps drop, and APR stops teasing power and starts selling it.
Maybe I'll make it to the track and see what my A6 can do after.

You should get a baseline run at the track. It makes future mods and lower times more satisfying.

As far as the dual pulleys, just get them in now. Even with an OEM file there is a nice bump in power. I haven't noticed a huge increase in iats between Stage 2 pulley and dual pulley. Pretty safe IMHO, unless you're planning on a larger than 180mm. Just 2 more weeks for APR....lol

Those are great times for a heavy car. I'm running an almost identical setup on my S4 and based on track times and dyno numbers, we are somewhere in the ballpark of 525-550bhp if your tune is a dedicated e85 file.

Should see 11s with a better DA!

Awesome, Im also running Dual pulley (JHM Though) with APR Stage 2 and APR SC pulley. Wondering when is APR going to commercialize their tune for DP? if ever- lol.
BTW, any negative impacts of E85 on engine?

No evidence of that with the 3.0 s/c engines. Been running mine for about 7 months, driving it very hard and it feels perfect.

Only downside is less mpg. But at $2 per gallon it's pretty much a wash. Just more frequent trips to the gas station.

How much hp do you think you've gained from adding a duel pulley to the apr st 2?

Well...you suck...lol. cheapest I've paid in NorCal has been $1.99. Some stations have been as high as $2.59. Still better than $3.49 for crappy 91 oct.

I'm sure you've heard about apr's teaser photo of the throttle body, so what I've heard is smaller pulley for the SC snout bigger crank pulley and thottle body = 500+ whp 2k!!

So I've heard. I've been watching the drama from afar for the entertainment. I gotta give props to APR for their marketing strategies, arguably the best in the business. They can "produce" an awesome dyno sheet and no one questions it. Pretty amazing what they have done for themselves.

Made a few passes last night on EPL 100 octane file. Best et was [email protected].

No idea, if I had to guess, close to stock S6/S7. But not really apples to apples since the S models have DSGs capable of way lower 60ft.

1.8x is pretty damn good, the S model stock is not going to be "way better" but a little better. A tuned S model is a whole different story.

Very true. I'm just jealous of the 1.5x dsg 60fts I've seen.

Is it just the transmission that holds back non-DSG cars from better 60fts?

The dsg with launch control and available tcu tunes definitely has more potential than the zf. Colby in his Q5 (zf tranny) hit 1.7x consistently which pretty damn good. Not sure if the zf will ever be able to get to 1.5x...unless someone comes out with a tcu tune for it.

Hasn't the ZF been around for awhile now? I guess tuners aren't seeing that much of a demand for a ZF TCU tune.

Hit Sac raceway today and got in a few runs. Best pass of the day was 12.36@112 on 101 Oct fuel. I was hoping for better but it's still in line with my previous runs.

Last track day of the year, and got to meet fellow AZ member Paul "redlinerex".

I've been extensively logging both the Race and e85 files from EPL, so I actually tried them both. I started with the e85 file running a e50 mix (using 104 Oct gasoline). Then I dumped an additional 5 gal of 104 Oct (from ERC fuels) and switched to the race file. I only had time for 2 runs on the race file, so the tune probably didn't fully adapt to the fuel change, but I was still pleased with the results.

The 2 slips on the left are on the e85 file, and the 2 on the right are on the race file. Car #121:

I was hoping to finish out the year with 11.9x, but still have a few mods to complete that should get me there first part of 2017. Thanks to team EPL for a great year and happy new year to all!

Please share your times. It would nice to see how other EPL team members are progressing. You'd be the fourth EPL tune I know of in NorCal. Good luck today.

A tip I learned from Redlinerex yesterday, crank up the AC prior to your run while in the staging lanes, then turn it off while you pull up. I watched me IATs drop over 10C prior to take off. I used to blast the heater, but the AC trick seems to work better.

No idea. I switched to EPL within a few weeks after that run. To be fair, I never really gave the GIAC tune a chance.

Right on. I'm not trying to get in your business or anything but if you were still in the return window I would have switched too. Sometimes it can be better to get the money back in hand and let the tuner sort their stuff on their own. You could always go back later. I ran my A6 3.0T bone stock and trapped 104mph then ran it with just a DTUK box on it and dropped the ET down from 13.5 to 13.0 at 108mph so something was definitely wrong on your old setup. This was stock pulley on pump gas and +1700 DA also.

I ran my A6 3.0T bone stock and trapped 104mph then ran it with just a DTUK box on it and dropped the ET down from 13.5 to 13.0 at 108mph so something was definitely wrong on your old setup. This was stock pulley on pump gas and +1700 DA also.

If I had to guess, my thought was that the C7 GIAC file was the same map as the old B8 file. It felt like it was never updated to the v2 version the B8 guys had. Also, if you look on the GIAC website, they don't list a stage 2 for the C7. It made me wonder what was really loaded in my car.

I could have played with the file more, but really wanted an dual pulley e85 tune so went EPL. Pretty damn happy so far.
