would you buy a td1 designated s6?

currently i am returning my 2016 s3 back to stock and i am in the market for either an s6 or s7

one of the cars i found was optioned exactly how i wanted but its at an audi dealer and they said it has an awe exhaust and a tune on the car so its td1. they are willing to sell the car at a good price and loss to them to just get rid of it but i am unsure if its worth it.

its a 2014 with 35k miles

they were asking 53k, and i can get it for 49k

I would snatch that up immediately if you were planning to mod it anyway, as stated above. That's a great deal at sub $50k..that car was flirting with $90k new..

Another option is to ask them to flash it to stock and CPO it. There have been reports of a car being unfledged from TD1 once it was returned to true stock, although I can't prove it. If it was tuned, is there a chance the prior owner is a member here? If so, you can get a better feel for how hard those 35K miles were.

Tell them about the tech bulletin released from AoA regarding TD1. AoA can approve a flash to stock, TD1 will be removed. And they can then CPO it for you.
However, if you plan to mod it, ask them to lower the price a little more and get the car. Reason being- the way AoA has gotten strict about ECU mods, you have a good chance of getting flagged anyway.

Galve's trade-in value(Philly) for a '14 S6 Prestige w/35k miles $44,950. Add $600(20" rims), $1,200(adaptive cruise), $600(night vision). Standard mileage allowance is 28k resulting in a -$1,350 hit to the trade-in value.

Comparable S7 trade-in value $51,675.

These values are good thru 9/29.

Well, "beat up" is a different matter entirely. Just curious....what don't you like about the S3? I actually love the car. We bought one for my wife, and I like it myself much more than I ever thought I would. I love how light and agile it feels compared to my S6. The transmission programming is much sportier and it has an unbelievably good stock exhaust sound for a turbo-4.

the s3 is a great little car, the problem is the size. its very hard to fit my daughter in the back comfortably, can't even fit her stroller in the trunk.

I have to agree with you loved my S3 but it was just to small! and my son is only getting bigger.. you will love the size

to answer the original question, no, not really. i have no intention of modding my own car (to get close to TD1) and wouldn't buy one either.

i look at the TDI fiasco and asked myself how much b.s. and/or expense would i be willing to deal with while VAG is hemorrhaging money (and inevitably clamping down in other areas). answer was not much, so i won't mod or buy modded at this point

They wont do it on a customer's demand. I am not sure how or what needs to be done for them to approve a flash to stock and reinstate the warranty. Here is the link to the bulletin. My personal experience with TD1- I got flagged even though I had gotten flashed to stock. But next day, the flag disappeared. How? I dont know, the foreman doesn't know. I traded my car in, no flag when the VIN was run in the system.

I'm actually very interested in a new RS3 as a DD when they come out. I like the look of the S3s I've seen in person.

There has to be some legal concern here. People buy a used car at a dealership that was modded. Then dealership replaces ECU and somehow removes the TD1. Without full disclosure ... this is fraud.
