    Replacing 2.0 engine on 2006 A4. Compatible ?

Just a quick question. I'm getting mixed information from junk yards. I have a 06 2.0 Quattro with a Manual. Some say that I have to use a engine that is either a manual or a cvt but I can't use a engine that was paired to a tiptonic. Others are saying that I can use any of the three engines (manual, cvt,or tiptonic). Don't make sense since I've read that a guy on here converted his fwd to awd and just changed transmission from cvt to tiptonic. I know that the engine codes have to match or compatible. ( I have a bpg engine) just finding a lot better deals on the tiptonic ones then the manual ones. Don't want to spend 1500 on a paper weight lol thanks for any info you have.

Since your car is a manual, you need an engine from a manual or cvt car. This is due to the crankshaft needing to be machined for a pilot bearing. A tiptronic car can use any crank but a manual or cvt car must use a manual/cvt crank.

Great info thanks. Makes perfect sense. Pm me Adam let's see if we can make something happen. You would have to Crate it and ship tho. Would rather give a fellow member the money then a junkyard.
