Well I got hit by a semi today.

Yup... was sitting at a red light and a semi came the wrong way over the divider (was only about 6 inches tall) and hit me and pushed me and the car about 40 feet back after crushing my front end (front driver side). Not sure what happened exactly but the semi ran over a no turning/ one way sign on the wrong way to hit me.

Probably gonna be totaled... ha... all those mods...

Good thing we have good protection.. none of the airbags went off.

I will post pictures when I can after all the fun legal stuff.

Not sure yet, I am waiting to see whats going to happen. Luckily it was not at super high speeds or I would probably be dead.

I am hoping for no frame damage and hopefully they will just fix the body, headlights, and whatever else broke. The roof was creased so I assume its done.

I was looking around but I don't want to entertain anything until I know whats going on with insurances and such. The guy was cited so I will win any insurance claim I am sure but it depends on how much. If they account for my mods and time I would be rich.. :P

This just made me sad. I'm glad you're ok though. Through my daily commute I see accidents almost 2x/week caused by wreckless rig drivers. Hell....just this week I was run off the freeway by a rig who didn't see me on his back right and decided to do a last minute merge into my lane as the free began to bottleneck :/

Just the words "hit by semi" make me think it's done. Buy it back from the insurance company and part it or move the parts to a new B7. That's what I did. My buyback was $992 for my '06 with 159k miles.

Yeah I am thinking about that as well because I can make way more back on it or if I happen to get lucky enough find a B7 in decent condition then I can just transfer the engine and mods. I am just pretty upset because I just recently did JHM Stage 2 93oct tune, JHM HPFP, Custom turbo back exhaust, 1.8t oil pump and filter mod, brand new coilovers (NOT EVEN A WEEK OLD!), new(to me) wheels, custom headlights (spec-d that I did my own quality LEDs and such), new stereo, and a few other things. All this was done less then a few months ago and it took a lot of time and effort and now its all gone. Thats just a shitty feeling, especially because it wasn't my fault and its going to be a fight to get their insurance to cover what they should to get me in a car of similar quality/miles/build.

I almost got wiped out by an illegal landscaper's truck after he went around a waiting car at a red left turn light and cut right in front of me, thankfully I was in the right lane, the lady in the left lane next to me almost broke her hand banging on the horn...

Ya know the insurance company is going to want to keep the car after they total it right? You can buy it back from them for usually around $500 after settlement, but then you own the salvage title...

Yeah the airbags concerned me. It was enough to push the front-left side into the engine bay and cripple my hood to where it wouldnt open but no air bags... again with the recall idk maybe its a good thing.

I would like a new audi but with these legal things I always assume for the worse and assume they will offer me shit. Went into the doctors today and got all the docs and such so now I play the waiting game while my lawyer and insurances deal with it all.

Ill keep updated as I can and hopefully they can just fix it :) but they will total it for sure.

I got a letter last week from Audi USA that said my airbags are under recall and that they will notify me when I can come to the dealer for replacement... until then I could die.

been there done that. Fuck semi drivers who think cause they are big the laws don't apply. I was stopped in the right hand lane and the guy made a right turn from the middle lane and trailer smashed me into the curb in my MK3 GTI

You will have to swap your instrument cluster and ecu for the least hassle. Then you can use your old keys without coding anything.

Need advise. They totaled my car...finally. Offered roughly 6800 and I get the car back. Damages exceed that but I'm pretty sure I can get the parts covered for less. Im looking at least a new front bumper, driver side QT panel, windshield, headlights (I have a spare set), hood, driver side mirror and maybe door, and a few other parts that maybe crushed under the front left QT panel.

I owe roughly 5k on the car so I am looking at $1500 for repairs. Worth it? These are rough numbers so keep that in mind and I am not sure whats exactly messed up under there. The repair quote has a bunch of other shit on there and I will post it up when I can.

Anyone gone this route and not regretting it?

There was a shop the insurance had look at it and there was no frame damage quoted but I do not have any proof as of yet.

Thats what I am thinking. I am looking at QT panels online and its around 200, hood around 250, mirror around 100, windshield replacement EST 200, then small other parts i am guessing around 250, all this if I don't need any paint (IE parts come black) I am around 1k. The rest looks like I could save it. I would need to look of course in more detail but I am thinking its worth no car payment! lol

Yeah I would have to assume it would be salvaged but yeah I never planned on selling it prior to getting hit and have the same mind set now. If I do not fix it (leaning toward fixing it) I would part it out. I can probably get more out of my JHM fuel pump than they want for the entire car lol. Would be stupid of me not to take it back.

well of course there is no frame , these are unibody cars so they do tweak easily. Putting it on a cellete to see if it teaked wil cost a fortune just to do that . So here is the way I look at it ..
take the 6800 pay off your loan .. now you have a free car and 1500 bucks.

the big question is what do you have to go through to put it back on the road if it has been assigned a salvage title. This is important .. because that process may be more costly than its worth.

For me if it was not an arduous process id put stuff on it from the wreckers and just drive it for as long as you can while saving up for another car .. just milk it as long as you can. if you get 2 or 3years out of it you could probably bank enough towards a nice S5 .

my current A4 some guy dumped for 3 grand . I paid cash for it . put about 1K in parts in it and I have a loan free car that I will milk as long as I can ..
