    Hard Wiring Radar Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi All,

So I attempted to hard wire my radar detector following this http://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-b...stall-2773725/ with no success.

The issue im having is not being able to get power to the radar. I triple checked the in-line fuses to make sure they were not blown and all is well. I even held the positive and negative direct to the battery to make sure the wire wasn't messed and it worked fine.

    Any ideas? Anyone done this?

These are the fuse tap wires im using https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the kit im using https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You have 2 fuses in the fuse tap right? Should be the original fuse and new fuse. I've made this simple mistake and got no power

The problem is that the blue clamp wire tapper is bullshit. It doesn't make a clean lasting contact with the wire. The idea is that it cuts through the wire stripping and clamps down on the inner wiring. But it has trouble staying in contact and the clamp will lose contact over time.

I recommend just getting some electrical tape. You can burn with the wirestripping off with a lighter, then just twist them around each and tape them together.

I have 1 fuse in there. So i tested this with 1 fuse and touched it directly to the positive on the battery and it worked just fine? You sure you need 2 fuses in the fuse tap? That would mean im running 3 fuses.. 2 in the tap and one inline that came with the wirekit. Seems like a little much no?

I am not using that blue tapper.. I am trying to tap into the fuse panel with that fuse adapter shown in the link above.

You need a fuse in each slot of the fuse tap. Try that and see if that's your issue. So yeah 3 fuses total with your setup.
