Swapping AFS headlights

Hello Guys,

after checking accross the web I have not found suitable answer. Is it possible to retrofit AFS headlights on a car that was equipped with NON-AFS headlights?
An alternative would be to recode AFS Headlights as NON-AFS. Reason for asking is that I am rebuilding an A4 and I have sourced AFS headlights but the car was not factory equipped.

I could be wrong but I believe that the wiring should be standard, so it'd only need to be recoded to accept them.
Being someone that's snooped around VCDS a lot, I believe it might work no problem.

I've heard the opposite... that there are many more components that go into AFS than just coding. Not just a simple swap.
