    Sealant for Cam Cradle

    Gents, so was attempting the chain and tensioner replacement and got screwed by the dreaded cam adjuster bolt. Mofo stripped out .
    So I'm moving on to plan B: remove the cam cradle and pull out the intake cam. Did lots or research and it seems scraping off the factory sealant is the major drama here.
    And here comes my question. Which sealant should I use aside from the atrociously overpriced oem one.

    Charles, i saw your comments about it in another post hence why I picked it. Then i came across the copper one and was intrigued by its purported properties and higher temp ratings. Do you think its a better product?

    Though if the Dirko has held up for 3 years, it seems the safer choice.

    One more thing. How long should I let the sealant set before starting the engine after reassembly?

    So are you saying I can crank the engine immediately after full reassembly? I thought i would have to wait a few hours first.

    I did.... After you the cradle. You have about 30-45 minutes worth of to do anyway before you start up the engine. More then enough time for sealant to do its job. Besides when to tighten the craddle up to the head its pretty seal at that point anyway

    Yea I'd give it an hour minimum. It might specify setup and cure times on the tube. I wouldn't push it, I'd give it the full allotted cure time before starting it up.

    Go to your local honda dealer and pick up a tube of hondabond. Its pretty much the best sealant out there.

    On porsche engines that use no gaskets the recommendation is three bond 1104. This has been rebranded as Yamabond 4 and
    Hondabond.
    I used the Yamabond 4 during my air cooled engine rebuild and it worked amazing. Just make sure surfaces are squeaky clean as in brake cleaner then alcohol until clean

    I see there is Hondabond HT and Hondabond 4. Do you know the differences and which one is better?
