2.0t A4 Front and Main seals going regularly between 120 and 140k miles?

Has anyone seen this happening more frequently?

I heard that the front and rear main seals in the engine start to deteriorate and need to be replaced. They end up causing a vacuum or something which could potentially damage the engine significantly.

Anyone heard or see this happen between the 120k to 140k mark?

yes, mine has around that mileage. And i replaced the front and the rear main seal.

With the way this engine is designed, If the PCV doesnt work right, clogged, or just used from all the miles... then it will cause pressure/suction to all the seals. Once one seal goes bad and you dont replace it on time, it starts to push out other seals.

I had this problem on mine and its stupid because audi doesnt help you, and they just dont know the car like owner does. The early b8s had oil consumption problems (as you may already know) so when they finally updated rings and other stuff, they updated the version of PCV. So if you just buy a PCV, you may end up screwing things up even more.

Although audi sold me the wrong PCV, based on my VIN, they didnt realize that my car had the updated up already, so it blew all the seals in about two days i had oil dripping from everywhere. I suggest you replace with a new PCV if you have over 100k miles. Its like a fresh breather system for your engine, they say it helps with gas mileage as well.

    Good luck.

Thanks for all the help and info.

I am planning on dumping the car before I get to that 120k mark.

Front seal i did when i had my mechanic do it as a side job. so I replaced the timing chains, tensioners, and guides, including the lower timing chain cover that holds the front seal.

The rear seal was after all of this work was done, and it cost me $1,300 dollars to replace. at the time, i needed it done quickly so i didnt shop around for better prices. Plus i only bring my car to certified audi or german cars specialists.

***These are jobs that you may do on your own if you have the tools, knowledge, and time. you save yourself alot of money.
