    So I blew out a sidewall on a PSS (235/35 R19) on 8.5" rim.
    No big deal right?
I called up discount tire to get a new one and they asked me what vehicle it was going on, and I told them.
"Sir your car is to heavy for the 235/35 combo would a 255/35 work?"
I said nope and suggested to try a different brand name.
No luck there, they said all the 235/35 R19 in any brand do not have the adequit load rating for your vehicle.

So this leaves me.... Did the sidewall blow out because my tires weren't the proper load rating for my car? I thought there was lots of guys running the same set up. The tires have only a few months on them which concerns me on the sidewall blow out.

What load rating do your current tires have? On Tire Rack, there are plenty of 235/35R19 Michelin PSS tires with 91 load rating, which is plenty for any S4 full of people and luggage.

I was previously running on Hankook v12 235/35 r19 on a 8.5 rim w/91y. I learned the hard way that I had the wrong tires. in less than a year I had chewed through them even with a the proper alignment and lowered. I have since moved up to a 245/35 r19 93y same tire and have never had a problem.. I do rub on occasion when I hit a nice dip, especially in the rear with passengers. normal tire wear with regular rotations.

I mean the closer you get to the weight limit of the tire the faster you will wear it out, but they shouldn't be blowing out sidewalls.

I just checked my B7A4 Avant and the minimum load rating is 94. I used to run through tires and finally made sure I had an XL rating 97 or higher and no more issues, but yes 91 or even 93 is less than the min. I assume an S4 will be the same or higher than an A4.

Ive been running PSS 235/35/19 now for 3 years. NO BLOWOUTS and i live in NYC. Some of the shittiest roads i've ever seen and driven on. Numerous times ive hit a pothole and assumed my tire was gone. Nope the Michelins held up. Yes technically the load rating is 91, and i do believe that i wear them out a bit quicker, but i havent had a blowout yet.

and btw i run them on a 9 inch wheel.
