Normal behavior for AWE cold front???

Have installed the awe cold front a while back. The heat exchanger and the reservoir. Love it so far, but a couple questions. When i open the door of the car, I can hear the pump turn on and start to circulate the SC coolant. Which is normal I believe. Now that the temperature is cooling off a bit at night, I've been running the car pretty hard. When I get the car back home i take a look in the engine bay. The fan is on full blast and the the coolant reservoir of the AWE system is not hot at all. Very cool actually. Is this right? I would assume that the coolant would be hot from after those runs. But maybe on the drive home the coolant circulated and cooled down??? Pretty impressive if that is the case.

You sure the reservoir is full of fluid when you check it. If you have your AC off, the fans should not be at full blast like that. Fans at full blast when you get ready to turn the car off that has just started out of nowhere is usually the early onset indication of a thermostat starting to go out, so be careful and keep an eye on it or you will get stranded.

Yeah, the reservoir is full. The fan on full blast is not a new thing. When the car is sitting there on for a min or two it goes off. I think it's just trying to get the temp down cause of stop and go traffic. But I will pay closer attention to it now. Just gave me a new thing to be worried about...

Good to know when I have mine installed shortly and APR tune to follow. I would like to know any irregularities if any I should be aware of.

When my fans started staying on last month for 1-2 mins after getting home from hard driving the thermostat started sticking a week later. Replaced it and everything is back to normal I think that is where you problem is.

When you say staying on, is threat when the car is off or on??
Good info here. I think mine is getting there. How hard of an install is a new thermostat??

On a side note, when i installed my new crank pulley, I shorted my aux fan on the passenger side and it no longer works. Guess I should have mentioned this earlier but I'm under the assumption that the aux fan only turns on when the air conditioning is on.

Had same symptoms leading up to tstat and water pump failure. I believe book time is 5 hours for t stat ad 3 hours for water pump.

Do you have a p3 gauge? Not sure if you monitor your coolant temps often but pay attention to those. Your cruising speed coolant temps will start to rise each day as the t stat continues to fail

The fans would stay on for 1-2 mins after I had turned it off I had previously never heard the cars fans on full blast. Definitely DIYable it sits in the V under the supercharger so as long as your confident in your ability to work on cars its a 4-5 hr job.

EDIT:Thermostat cost me $50.00 easily done on a weekend for peace of mind. What year is your car?

I don't have a p3 but I will keep an eye on it. And this all may complete normal behavior. This is the first time in like 4 months where I haven't had to use my AC here In Las Vegas.
I can read my oil temp off my mmi screen. This will also rise if the coolant temp rises no? If it starts claiming significantly, I can assume tstat failure is imminent??

Correct oil will rise too but that's at the point of imminent failure and possible flat bed time... If you have vcds I would highly suggest enabling the lap timer so you can see oil temp. You can also monitor coolant on there but that would be a bit annoying unless you have the wifi version...

Cool. Well, im just gonna have to keep an eye on the old oil temps. On a side note, I love the word "imminent". Reminds me of Gene Hackman in Crimson Tide...I think he said it like 20 times in that movie.

Well....the inevitable happened...the steady rise of the coolant temp gauge. Thermostat seems to be dead...was ironically about 500 feet from my shop. Cranked the heat on....and limped it in. Gonna do the pcv valve while they are in there.
