    DV Valve Options

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My dv valve started leaking yesterday and im going to be replacing it soon. I am debating between getting a forge bov or a forge dv spacer with the newer style piston dv. I am looking for any feedback from anyone that has had one of these. Anyone run into any issues with these? For all of those that are going to say not to go bov cause my car will run rich every time it vents atmospherically i am in the process of getting eurodyne maestro tuner and will have a custon tune made so that will not be a issue. But any other info would be great.

I have no fist hand experience with those Forge options, but why not GFB? Keep re-circulation, upgraded the piston, and not have to worry about tuning for it.

GFB with upgraded piston style dv is also a option.

I've had every revision DV, a DV+, and Forges BOV DV... In all honesty the best valve ive used has been forged BOV. The only draw back is it requires maintenance and needs to be re greased every once and awhile...

The DV+ is a nice option too, but I found that my car had some hesitation issues when shifting. But it could just be my car... I've read in some golf and gti forums that others have reported the same. I also had an early version of the DV+ fail and crack. GFB did a solid and replaced it and haven't had any cracking issues since but like i said I get some hesitation issues.

Don't let people be haters and say a BOV will cause this or that... The incremental difference if any is so tiny. I feel as if the Forge valve is the best replacement as far as durability and holding boost no matter what you throw at it.

    Hope this helps

    Here's a GFB for sale. $100.
Not a huge risk if you dont like it. Could re-sell that and recoup most if not all of it.

So just so you guys who don't know this.... And are looking to buy a used DV+.... There are two different revisions to this product.

The one on the left is the newest and safe and reliable revision. And on the right is the old first version that is prone to failing...

The old version had a smaller brass plunger, 4 bleed holes in the plate, and a slightly different black metal plunger.

The newest versions has a larger thicker brass plunger, only 3 bleed holes in the plate, and again a slightly thicker black metal plunger.

    New Version Mounting Plate...

Old Version Mounting Plate...(Notice Where Mine Cracked)

Newer Style Brass Plunger on LEFT, older style on RIGHT...

Newer Style Brass Plunger TOP, Older Style on BOTTOM...

New version Black Plunger LEFT, Old Version Black Plunger RIGHT...

Make sure you know what your buying....

The Forge BOV valve has a metal piston in it that passes through two o-rings...thus requiring grease to lubricate the moving parts to keep unwanted friction down. But since its a BOV and it vents to the atmosphere that grease will get blown out over time and possibly become contaminated by outside elements.

    Thanks guys.

But I just realised I already made a purchase, which is this one:

Will this work also? Its a Genuine revised part.
how good are they?... I assume it is more capable than holding/withstanding a Stage II set up?

Yeah now that I researched it more you can find it on ECS and i'm pretty sure I saw it on amazon, but it doesn't look like it's the updated version on amazon.

Update: just ordered from amazon, I gotta make use of my prime ;) I'm pretty sure it is the updated version but I'll let you all know in a day or two.

Thanks Tyler, That is definitely great news for me.

Would you or anyone here know if replacing the DV without disconnecting the battery, cause any error codes?

im a bit paranoid these days, as I mentioned in my other post, I disconnected an Air bag sensor in the front bar of my EVO IX (without disconnecting the battery), it threw an error code, requiring an OBD tool at a workshop to clear it.

No error codes. Just make sure the car is cold so u dont burn urself underneath. Wih the car off disconnecting the connectors wont cause any codes unless you forget to re-connect.

So does the old version of the GFB just prone to issues or does it also cause problems with boost leaks, etc.?

As far as I was told when talking with one of the guys at GFB when mine cracked. Is they revised it due to the first version causing turbo flutter. But he also said that this wasn't the first time they has seen there first version part crack either. So hard to say why they actually revised it.

All I know is I had a boost leak and when I took mine apart it was busted. The newer version sounds and functions much better if you ask me.

Obviously people replace diverter valves when they are faulty and/or a precaution/extra-measure.

(I could've sworn I asked/typed this question in a thread somewhere but I cant seem to find it.)

What I asked is; Is there any noticeable difference felt between a Fully Functional/Non-faulty OEM Diaphragm Diverter valve VS a Revised Piston type Diverter valve?

Has anyone replaced one and noticed any difference in the way the vehicle behaves?
I saw a video of someone who had replaced a working DV with a revised one and the video author/poster alleged that "it held boost better".

Im wondering if what he said is true OR what he described is just the placebo effect of fitting something new to the car and feeling better about it.

    Cheers

Farout, I went to all the trouble with replacing it today... ONLY to find that the car already had a piston DV!!!!!

I ended up replacing the existing piston DV anyway, since it will now be brand new.

The Revision D as you mentioned, is the one I purchased. The old one that was in there looked almost the same, it didn't have that basket looking thing surround it.. The part number seems to be later than the Revision D?
here is what it looked like:

So does that mean ive replaced the DV with an older revision? Any concerns, if so?

Lastly, The DV couldn't have come with the car could it?
My car is the 2012 (early facelift version) 2.0T TFSI CDNC quattro... when did audi introduce it as a standard part?

Dont feel bad I did the same on my car even my old B7 had been revised. Yours being an early facelift could have been the reasonyou had the revision however i'm not 100% on that
