    RPMs Fluctuating

Having a little problem here. My A6 (3.2) currently has 74k and usually every morning my RPMs start to pulse from 1200 - 1600 RPMS. Sort of feels like the car is jolting forward at times. Dosent matter which gear; I could be in 4th, could be 6th. It does it when I am off of the gas or simply just resting my foot on the pedal. I've done a search and really haven't came across much other than that my torque converter could be toast? Any ideas? Transmission shifts like new besides this issue and only happens on cold starts after the car has been sitting.

Does the car do it when at idle and not in gear? Does it go away as you drive the car (after warming up)?

Does not do it in idle. Yes goes away as the car warms up.

When it occurs, does it feel as if the car is surging ahead or slipping? Our torque convertors are meant to completely lock around 2500 RPM. If there is an issue in the valve body, it could be trying to lock earlier which would feel like a surge. Do you have or have access to VAGCOM to run a scan and log?

Surging ahead. Definitely not slipping. Best way to describe would be like having a boost leak somewhere and causing the idle to fluctuate but its when the car is driving. I do not have any access to a VAGCOM. There is a indy shop called EcoTech (http://ecotechimportauto.com/) nearby my house which I probably plan on taking it there. Just wanted to possibly see if anyone on here had an idea. I'm sure they could diagnose via VAGCOM there. Just hoping its not something too serious.

All i can say that i have mine for over a year and i didnt get any worse . Recently i have added diesel additive and i have to admit it seems to fluctuate a less. Normally i don't belive in additives but i got a free bottle so it was worth a shot

Interesting, I had that issue for a short amount of time and it just went away.

Not sure why, But I sometimes use techron fuel system cleaner and sometimes general fuel additives for the whole system.

Recently I had a different type of surge and a new MAP fixed it, $10 on ebay.

My B7(w/3.2) would do that on cold days for the first couple of minutes. From all the research I did, either changing the tranny fluid fixes that, or the TC is on it's way out. Was going to change the fluid as a first attempt, but I sold the car before I could do that.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm hoping to get it into the shop here soon and get it figured out. Praying the TC is not the issue.
