Hi guys, i am very interested about ordering a 2017 M2.
The Manual 6spd and the complete package is growing on me.
Any of you had the chance to test drove one. It's impossible here, it's only on special order.
I Will keep my old A8 for winter. I love my RS4 but a new car is very Interesting.
I never own a BMW, i am a little worry about reliability but people say the same thing about Audi and i never had problem with them. A mustang gt350 was also interesting but the smaller M2, the intérior and the price...9000$ less than the gt350 here in Canada is important.

    Any comments ?
    Thanks

Once you get behind the wheel of a BMW, you'll understand why they are so amazing. Great driving vehicle.

    Reliability, not so much.

Also think about taking a 235 for a spin. Obviously it's half the car the M is but it will give you a good idea what to expect. The M2 has reviewed very well and in many cases was the choice over the M4. I wouldn't worry so much about reliability if you are going to have dealership warranty protecting the car.

I had a 235 chasing me on the A2 here in the UK and could not shake the kid coming on from the slip road and him on my ass. Friend said there biturbo so map up to over 400bhp so God knows what the M2 would do.

240i just came out and they replaced the n55 with a b58, similar i6 3.0 but a bigger turbo, less lag (apparently) and makes a better noise - can confirm through light youtube research lol. Stays cooler as well bc of an air to water intercooler. I'd grab a manual version in a heartbeat and have a 11 second car with bolt-ons . Jk fuck bmw, every "car dude" and his mom has one in LA.

EDIT: nothing wrong with buying a beamer, obviously they are great cars OP

I personally think this would be a great car to own. Based on how excited this guy is I think its a good buy.

I've been keeping tabs on a 2011 BMW 1M at a dealership here in Chicago. Always wanted one but living in Chicago its hard to drive a rear wheel drive car in the Chicago winters. I know they will only go up if I keep it stock. Why don't I live in California ugh..

Florida would be better no emissions inspections and 93 octane.

    And have never been happier

Yeah, pretty much all the new M's have turned the game up a few notches.
Switched to Tesla and have never been happier. No more shady mechanic bills and excuses - oil top off before an oil change is normal or dealing with outdated forums that have image size limitations. And no more dealing with vendors that do not provide horsepower numbers but sell you random things by labeling them as performance parts. No more dealing with the Audi dealership and having to buy custom Audi specific tools. Wow. I can't believe I lived through all of this. Money pit.

I hear the value of these cars keeps going up and up and they are impossible to find. As i dont know much about the 1M i will say it seems like a great buy and a fun car

M2 was limited production for 2016 - won't be that way for 2017 and beyond. BMW built a lot of hype for the car by doing this. It's a good car. I've enjoyed owning turbo BMWs. All three Germans have their issues.

Audi - like GM random stuff will break (buttons/trim/etc), and motors seem to go.
    BMW - electronics.
Mercedes - never break, but high cost of maintenance along the way will make up for that.

None of them are cheap to own - if you want that, go Toyota/Hyundai.

I have an M4 now and love it. Would not trade it for an RS4. (But I wouldn't mind owning an RS4 alongside it! ha)

I don't love the new looks of the M lineup, the E90s welould be the last I'd consider personally. That being said, I'm sure they perform well.

I had a 135i before the RS4, and loved loved loved the car. Bulletproof. I'm on board for an M2 in 2017.

Would buy a 1M over the new M2.

1M values are going up and will continue to do so, M2 values will drop pretty steeply once the initial demand wears off. Not to mention that dealers are asking for (and getting) $5-10k market adjustments on top of the MSRP of the M2.

Buy a 1M, drive it for a couple of years, sell it on for a large enough profit to cover your running costs for those few years. Just like an E30 M3 or air cooled 911 / GT3.
