    Transmission cross member rubbing on JHM downpipe

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Have a slight problem and wondering if anyone has experienced the same.

    I've installed a full exhaust on my 06 A4. JHM test pipe -> JHM downpipe-y -> B7 S4 catback

    The problem is the Downpipe-y is rubbing against the transmission crossmember, I've installed the included spacers with the JHM Kit for the cat back.

    Is there a way to shift the crossmember over towards the drivers side a little?

    Perhaps the motor mounts are bad... Or... The transmission mount.

    What do you guys think?

    I had a similar issue when I first installed the jhm downpipe and FI exhaust. I had to get my test pipe modified to get everything to fit properly. The downpipe itself was too nice to chop up. This was after replacing my motor mounts too.

    Edit: I should mention I have a gtx2867r turbo setup, but while not stock I had no fitment issues with the same test pipe connected to an OBX exhaust.

    Alot of it has to do with the test pipe. When i had mine installed it was apparently a bit shorter than the oem cat and had to correct the fitment, but then again it was a different brand.

    Jake told me to try resetting the exhaust I may have pushed the exhaust against the down pipe too hard trying to get the back to line up right. I am going to unbolt the sleeves and try shimmying it around to see if I can't get it to sit a little better.

    There was and is a few members that had the same issue. I was another member car that had the same set up. He ed it by adjusting the exhaust on a muffler lift where the car would set at it normal loaded height. He loosened all the nuts and bolts to lightly snug and begin to position everything. When everything was cleared he tighten everything. It was still rather close and would rub over ruff roads or when the suspension traveled alot and under power shifting instances

    When connecting the DP-Y to the TP try tightening the bottom bolt of the 3 hole flange first. That will help bring the natural angle of the system down.

    However, a bad mount that would cause the engine to lean one way or the other can cause this type of issue.

    Ordered a set of 034 motor mounts, won't receive them for about a week.

    I'll report back after install, I'll also try to tighten the bottom bolt on the tp to dp connection to pull it down.

    I did do my motor mounts and it helped very slightly. My passenger side was completly blown. Whenever I get time to do my trans mount I'll be looking at the exhaust I didn't get a chance last night
