    Fuel Tank Sending Unit Tool

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I was in the middle of changing my fuel filter and that pos plastic nut is on tighter than shit! I tried everything and it won't budge. Apparently there's a tool that the dealer doesn't even carry and snap-on is the only option. Does anyone have this tool and want to rent it to me? If so, send me your throttle body with the tool and I'll port it free of charge. Pn# T40068A

    Thanks!

Is it not just a standard fuel tank nut that a flat head screwdriver and small hammer can loosen?

Is that what he's talking about? It's kind of a bitch, but can definitely be done with a flat head, a hammer, and 4 hands. Definitely shouldn't require a special tool.

Advance, O'Reilly's and AutoZone sell that spreader clamp. It's three prong and looks like a huge oil filter remover

Yes it's the fuel tank nut, but this mofo isn't coming off! Not even with swoliosis grown man strength lol. I tried a hammer and large punch, hammer and a flat head screwdriver and just man handling it and that thing didn't budge. The screwdriver would sink into the nut so that tells you how hard I was hitting it without any sign of movement. Apparently it's an issue with Audis because I've changed several in tank pumps before. Found a "how to" for changing the fuel filter in the A4 area and those guys were just breaking them off lol.

Will, the guys at IPB Motorsport on 12th & C put the autotech HPFP on my car this summer. Walk in and ask Ron how they got that nut removed. He's a great guy and I'm sure will help you out.

I called oreillys and they said special order too. I also asked what the largest oil filter pliers they carried but again, no dice.

Hey brotha thanks for the input, but it's in a different location than the hpfp...it's under the rear seats. Thing is a bitch to put it lightly haha
