Epc light and check engine light on 2010 a4

I recently purchased a 2010 a4 an love it, but yesterday i went to the store and when i came out the car would not start and EPC and engine light were on. After about an hour or so it started right back up lights went of and drove it home. Put a scanner on it and nothing showed up... was this a freak occurrence or has anyone dealt with this problem.. any help would be greatly appreciated

Idk but I might start with checking the battery.
