    Good deal for 2014 A4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What's up guys? I currently drive a 08 A6 S-Line 3.2 with 74k but have been looking to possibly upgrade to a newer style. I came across this listed, http://www.bmwautohaus.com/used/Audi...29b70626e1.htm, and wanted to see what you A4 guys thought. Would the miles scare you away?

.... also just came across a 2013 with 47k listed for 500 less - http://www.fuszsubaru.com/used/Audi/...earchDepth=1:2. Any main differences?

I know my ultimate decision is based on what I prefer but what opinions in term of reliability do y'all have?

That's a pretty highly optioned car (no sport package though) but, out of principle, I couldn't pay that much for a car with that many miles. Especially when it's not certified.

I purchased my 2012 a4 for 20k a year ago. It had 75k miles and i have since put another 12k miles on. If you keep up with maintenance, make sure the previous owner did as well, these cars will go beyond 200k miles. The b8/8.5 and its engine have been around for a long time and the engineers have worked out most bugs. My 2 cents.

I'd personally pass on it. 63k miles in two years is a lot.

It does have blind sport detection and an RS4 grill... yay. But it's also lacking the Sport Package and paddle shifters.... boo.

That second one is also mislabeled. That's a premium (base) model without Nav and FWD.

I actually bought my 08 A6 with 56k and put almost now 20,000 miles on it in 6 months because of work commute and dating a broad 2 hours away. Yes, very depressing but she runs great. Was just exploring the idea of an upgrade. Will have to keep my eyes out for one with the sport package. Thanks for the input guys.

To me (in my opinion) there are three must have's for the B8/B8.5:

    1) Sport Package
    2) Nav
    3) And most obviously, Quattro.

I think anything less would leave me feeling a little disappointed. Anything above and beyond those is even better.

I largely agree with Adam but personally I'd tweak these a bit...

    1.) Quattro
    2.) HID/LED lighting
    2.) Sport package

Nav is nice to have, but whether it's worth the cash depends on how often you use it. 6MT is also very desirable.

My A6 is pretty high optioned but currently do not have Nav. Does not really bother me as I just use the Waze app on my phone. I'll just have to keep on looking! Quattro and Sport is a must. I'm set on white with either tan or the brown interior. Not a lot of them in that combo in the St. Louis area. Have yet to see another Blue/Brown A6 in my year combo either.

@blbroo help a local out tracking down a nice B8.5.

This is the time of year when they all come in off lease, so keep searching and one will show up. The Buyer's Guide explains how to tell quickly whether the sport package is equipped or not.

    @rauder26

Hey there! When I was searching for my car, in 2012, I found that the prices in St. Louis were a good deal higher than I could find out of state. $23k for a two year old car with 63,000 miles seems too much. I paid $28 for my 2010 in 2012 and it only had 33,000 miles on it.

You could get a 2012 S4 with the same, or fewer miles, for just over that.
    http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ear=2011&Log=0

I don't see any A4's within 100 miles of us that have the sport package, for under $30k. Sport package is a must, you will most likely regret getting a car without it. Really though, I'd get one of those S4s, I wish I had.

If you want to try my car out to compare against a non-sport, let me know. I am in Town and Country.

This S4 already has some mods on it, judging by the non-stock intake.

Could probably get it for $21,500 and have a 6mt.

Thanks for the help @blbroo. As tasteful as both those S4s are, I'm dead set on having my next in Ibis White. I am in no rush to buy really but always on alert. I am actually really close to Town and County. I basically live off of 141 and Manchester.

The 2014 w/63k could be a great deal. Its at a BMW dealer. They probably are only into it like 18k, could easily negotiate it down to 20. Its a Prem+ Quattro w/Nav, B&O audio, S-Line exterior pkg, etc. If its a color combo you like, I'd go for it.

63k miles is a lot for a 2014, but that means it was likely all highway, which is a lot less stressful on the car than stop and go. My 2013 has 70k and is literally still like a new car. All highway with very little wear. I even still have original brakes all around with plenty of life left. Not all miles are created equal.

Sports package is nice, but its incredibly hard to find. If its a requirement, you eliminate 95% of A4s instantly. When you find one, you'll definitely be compromising on something else, whether price/options/color, to get it.

I am about a mile east of 141 between Conway and Ladue. Ibis white is a nice choice. I'm sorting out some tune issues for the K04 right now, but should have that fixed Friday, then get my AWE downpipe installed Saturday.

So true with that @b6onboost. Beggers can't be choosers. My A6 has everything but the sport package (has the S Line exterior), lane assist and nav. Fell in love with the blue/brown combo and swooped it for 14k with only 56k miles. But as I said above, past six months I have put almost 20k on it. All highway though and like you said, all miles are not equal. I still also am riding the original brakes, rear pads need changing soon however. She runs still like shes brand new. So I really have no problem waiting and searching for that perfect one I am wanting.

@blbroo We will have to meet up at a Cars & Coffee sometime soon.

I should have clarified a little bit. What I meant by Nav isn't necessarily the access to the Navigation feature itself, but all the other bells and whistles that come with the Nav MMI. Like the color DIS display, center consol controls, ect.
