B5 trans and rear end the same?

I've got a 2002 with an 01A. B5s with 5spd should be the same, right? Maybe different ratios so I'd need to change both trans and rear end at the same time?

There's a good deal on a V6 B5 with wrecked engine, and nice wheels. Figured if I can use the gearbox, it's worth it just for the wheels... and I'd have some spare parts.

(mine is 1.8T - but 01A bolts to both, right?!)

But in short, you just need to swap the center diff housing from your B6 gearbox in place of the one on the B5 gearbox.
