Auto 3-blink lane change turn signal

Is it possible to change the turn signal stalk or relay of the Allroad to have the feature of the lane change/making a turn? My 2004 S4 has the feature and I was just wondering if it's a hardware upgrade or could I easily do it with VAGCOM? I'm too lazy to hold down the stalk for so the auto 3-blink would be great!

It's not as easy as just changing the coding like you can on some newer cars. But it can be done:

That's awesome! I'm going to get this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/401111174481...AIT&rmvSB=true

I don't have to fully disconnect my RNS-E correct? It didn't come with the code when I bought the car...

Yeah. You'll want to get that out of the way. It's possible you won't need the code, but that case typically only happens if you HAVE the code!
Let me know if you want the little diagram of how I wired it up. It works very well actually..

Unless you are swapping cars in the process you shouldn't need the code. I've had my original RNS-E in and out more times than a fiddlers elbow without it asking...

Back to the matter at hand. If you are careful and have access to a fish wire or bent coat hanger you can install the komfortblinker without pulling the radio at all. You really only need pull the trim around the flasher, and the glovebox.

oh sweet, thanks for the info!

So it sounds like I should stick it behind the glovebox?

Take a look at my reply in the thread rollerton linked to. It's post #25, second page. You can see I zip tied a bit of foam around mine and slipped it into the aluminum crash support.

I have it written down stuffed in my owner manual in the car. I'll go out there when I get a break and update this-- in a little bit.

Here's how I wired it, seems to work just fine.
A little diagram I drew-- looking at the back of the 10-pin connector you have red and brown at one end.
RED from the blinker thing hooks up to RED in the connector.
BLACK from the blinker thing goes to BROWN in the connector-- and so on.

Interesting little relay thing- the hazard relay handles the first blink and it's a normal audible click, but this 3-blink thing is digital or something so you actually can't hear it for the 3 blinks it triggers.
    Works well though.

You're the man!! I don't wanna break anything but how does the hazard pop out? Is the clips on the side or top/bottom of the relay??

Hazard switch just pops out- the spring clips are on each side. But, FWIW I'd plan on removing the cupholder, and whatever you have on the opposite side, and maybe the head unit. I typically remove the trim, slide the cupholder out, and I have a tool that's like a screwdriver but has a 90* bend in it. I slide that guy in there and PULL the hazard switch out from behind- I've broken/scratched too many things by 'prying' .
You might be able to slide the hazard switch out far enough to get the wires spliced but it would be tight and kind of a hassle. If you have the stereo removal tools it's only another 2-3 minutes to remove all that stuff that's in the way and it makes the job way easier and more tolerable. There are a couple wire-ties at the very back behind the stereo that hold the hazard switch harness. If you can't snip those you're going to be stretching the wires out in order to reach them.

    Thinking about this myself.

So you have to VAGCOM a code in order for it to work?

Do it! Like Rollerton said, you can probably VAGCOM newer cars but mine is an 04 so just bought an aftermarket komfortblinker on ebay. Writing a little description with Rollerton's diagram right now.

No. you just wire it in like the diagram above ^. 5 wires spliced to the hazard switch harness.

Aftermarket Komfortblinker Installation - by Rollerton and AllroadMass

    Here's a few things you'll need:
1)OEM or aftermarket komfortblinker. I purchased this one and works well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/401111174481...rue&rmvSB=true
2)Radio removal key to help ease the installation

First, remove the radio since you'll need access to the wire connected to the Hazard relay. Next, gently pry the trim piece around the air suspension, hazard, and cup holders. They held on by 6 small clips as shown in the picture. (will add picture)

My hazard flasher had only one metal clip on the right side of the body. Stick a small hook/pry tool and gently pull from the right side. Some hazard may have clips on both side so you may need to pry each side at a time. Once you pop the relay out, pull foward and unclip the 10-pin connector in the back. You should now having something like this:

There are 2 zip ties holding the 10-pin connector dead-center of the opening where the radio/nav sits. Clip that zip tie to give yourself a little working room. Gently pull the 10-pin connector forward and you'll notice some automotive tape around the wires. Unroll it and expose more of the 10 wires so you have an easier time splicing/tapping into each wire. I fished the komfortblinker wires through the opening at the back of where the hazard flasher sits and that left enough room for the komfortblinker to sit nicely right behind the radio/nav.

Now following Rollerton's super duper amazing diagram and splice the komfortblinker to the 10-pin connector. Like such:

I tested the hazard and komfortblinker function while everything was out and works perfectly. Now gently pull the komfortblinker wires from the back while slowly pushing the hazard relay into the cubbyhole. This should be your end result. As Rollerton mentioned, the first click of the turn signal is actually handle by the hazard relay still while the other 2 blinks are now handle by the komfortblinker. The first click is very distinct in the video while the other two are subtle. Thanks to Rollerton for showing me the way! http://vid36.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4dsvlgus.mp4

    Awesome.

If I don't need to mess with VAGCOM I'm ordering one today.

    Cheers guys.

And then there were three... Nice write up, but not a fan of the cable taps. Much safer to remove the pins from the plug and solder new wires to existing. It's also easy enough to install without removing the radio.
