Finding the right shop and someone you can trust is key.
I do work on these cars on the side. I usually like to see the car before hand so we can set a plan, figure out what is broken/issues and have a plan of attack. Just have to realize that with the age of these cars, some people put garbage parts on these cars, fix things cheaply, and or just leave things broken. I like putting plans together that address all these types of issues. You don't have to fix everything at once (but usually cheaper to do it this route, but sometimes is a lot of up front money,) but at least you understand the intricacies of these cars and what they require as far and maintenance goes.
I have also been making DIY videos for you guys that want to try and fix things yourself. My only thing about it all is that you don't skip or skimp on quality parts and processes.
I am not a shop, just a very knowledgeable enthusiast that hates to see B5 S4 guys taken advantage of. I work on these cars to help pay for my own tools and pay for my own B5 S4. I don't like to be rushed to get your car fixed, I take my time, but can't always work on "your" car everyday as I do have a regular job. I will mock your car (don't get me wrong though, I love your B5 S4 and would keep it,) and find other issues with it, but I do believe that an informed owner is going to be better off in the long run. Plan, plan, plan is key on these cars.
