Thanks for putting that link up. I put up a fully refundable deposit in February on one.

My dealer contacted me today and said he expects to be able to take orders for cars in December.

In December? That'll be great. I was expecting around March.

We will see in December. My dealer knows I'm looking at Cayman's so he may just be throwing that out there to keep my interest. Not bad mouthing my sales guy or my dealer as they're very easy to deal with.

I currently have a 2016 S3 that I'm having fun with but looking to upgrade.

Same here: have an S3, enjoy it very much. My wife will probably continue driving it and will trade in her Allroad instead.

December?? Don't get my hopes up , that'd be a nice birthday month present to me!

UK forums are mentioning delays...the configurator was supposed to be up a week or so ago, but now I believe they're saying 9/23 or a similar date. Orders won't be available for them until the configurator is up. Could be UK specific (hello BREXIT).

    Thanks for the link!

Thanks for posting those links. Your as consumed as I am with this car. LOL

It's going to be interesting to see the pricing in the US for a reasonably equipped TT RS

    I expect north of 70K.

It's funny how everyone says it doesn't drift. Only one of the reviewers provided a thought that this car perhaps is a much better alternative to an AWD Carrera? It's really boring reading cliche reviews.

Saw this on the DuPont Regisrty, they're claiming the price for the coupe is $74,077 and $77,224 for the roadster.

Gonna be interesting to see how the price out with options and also if these prices are accurate.

Looks like they just did a straight conversion at the time of the article. There's no way it will start at the price. The prices in the US tend to be a lot cheaper than out in Europe or the UK. If the car starts at $74K, the M2 and Cayman are going to blow Audi out of the water in sales. It's not even competitive pricing.

But I'm almost positive all he did there was do a straight conversion from the euro price.

Very good point. Glad you filled me in on that because if it's $74K I'm probably gonna look for a 2016 Cayman GTS with a 6 speed. Test drove one a few days ago and it was really nice. I miss a car with 3 pedals but I am intrigued by the 5 cylinder motor and those sweet Audi interiors.

I'm just looking for a fun car to take out now and then and make a lil noise.

The cost will be right in the neighborhood of $65K. The $65K falls into rough line for this price point where Audi charges roughly $9K-$10K more for the "S" model and another $9K-$10K for the "RS" model. It appears that Nardo Grey will be a standard color in the US. Also appears that there will be a dynamic package that will include nonadjustable shocks and front ceramic brakes. Most reviews are touting that the standard magnetic ride is just as good as the sport shocks, but without the roughness. Based on what I have read on the German site, I am not sure there will be a ton of options. There will be a 19" and 20" wheel choice, dynamic package, sport exhaust, B&O, and probably some kind of technology package. My guess is that without the dynamic package the price with the rest of the options may be $70K or less.

The exhaust sounds sweet on this car. And it appears that they are not piping any of the sound into the car's stereo system either.

Sounds plausible. Hope it comes to fruition at that price point. I'd love to see what the 19" wheels look like.

Attached is a copy of the German Guide for the Audi TTRS. You can see the 19" wheels in the brochure toward the end.

Thanks. Did a quick screen shot so everyone can see the wheel choices, there seems to be 6 options. From the left the 3rd wheel and the 6th wheel are 19". All the other wheels are 20"

I believe wheels #2, #3 and #6 are the 19" option. The wheels differences are more around brushed aluminum, gray and black accents for the two wheel styles.

You are correct. I looked at the brochure again and the choices are clearly marked 19" or 20".

I'm not really crazy about any of the wheel options but if I am able to get a TT RS I prob won't care once I'm hearing that exhaust.

The TTS wheel options look better in my opinion. I think the exhaust note will be to die for in my opinion. I have read almost 20 reviews and all of them have provided positive reviews of the exhaust.

I doubt orders will be taken before spring. The official word from Audi USA is that orders will not be taken before Q1 of 2017.

I saw a picture of a blue TTRS with Michigan plates a while back with the all silver 19" wheel...it looked like something I would put on a Lego car when I was a kid. Seeing the same wheel in black with the white "ish" faced rotors looks a bit better, I wonder how it will look in person on the car. Both those and the two-tone 20" wheels kind of remind me of the RS7 wheels:

Honestly I'm hoping the 19" two-tone #6 will look acceptable. I really don't want to upgrade to a 20" wheel I'm going to be replacing within a month with custom wheels.

Guess we're gonna have to wait and see, in the meantime I've been shopping for a 2016 Cayman GTS with a manual trans.

I'd appreciate it if you could post a pic of the TT RS with the 19's. I can't seem to find one.

    Thanks

Here is a new review from Automobile Magazine comparison testing the Audi TTRS vs. Cayman S.

    Automobile Mag:

They gave the edge to the Cayman, but only because it felt more fun drive it at 10/10. Overall they gave huge props to the TTRS, saying that grip was tremendous, it was the easiest to drive fast, interior was better, acceleration was better and the exhaust gave goose bumps.

Thanks for posting that review. I'm still undecided on what car I want, the TT RS or a Cayman GTS.

I just wish they would make the official announcement on the TT RS release date and final pricing in the US.

I owned the last TTRS and though I really liked the car it never had the feel of a refined sports car like the Porsche... It is, after all, built on a VW Golf chassis... So if your looking for fast then the new TTRS is right up your alley... If your looking for the feel of a real refined sports car then the TTRS is not your car...

I appreciate the input. Usually I'm a very definitive person but in this case I'm on the fence.

The Audi offers that great 5 pot motor, great interiors, impressive 0 to 60 times, great ergonomics, good sound system, I love the music interface to my iPhone, great navigation and a certain level of exclusivity but it doesn't have 3 pedals. The fact that it doesn't offer a manual tranny is the only downside of the TT RS for me.

The Cayman GTS has a great handling and IMHO I consider it to be a true sports car that's obtainable for me. The one feature I love about the GTS is that I can get it with a manual gear box. I test drive one and realized how much I missed rowing my own gears. I had an opportunity to buy a super low mileage Agate gray GTS and I hesitated because it wasn't a heavenly optioned car. After deciding I could live with the car the dealer informed me it was sold.

At this point if I can find a clean CPO GTS I'd probably opt for the Porsche, in the meantime if I can't find a decent GTS I'll go with the TT RS as I have a deposit on one.

Well I came across a 2016 Cayman GTS 6 speed that I couldn't resist. So I still have the deposit on the TT RS. I plan to wait and see how the TT RS launch goes and maybe I'll get that as well just because I feel it's such a unique car.

Congrats! Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of being able to do both, but if you can, that's a great car to enjoy in the meantime. I'll let Audi keep testing my patience...though EU and UK still don't have a configurator and orders aren't open...hoping it doesn't delay their projected US availability date.

    BTW, that's a pretty futuristic S3 you've got in your garage (2106 )!

    BTW, that's a pretty futuristic S3 you've got in your garage (2106 )!

Ha ha. - I forgot to change my profile.

To be honest I had a few regrets as I drove my S3 to the dealer for the trade in process - it was a great car. I put 14.5K miles on it a year and not one issue - it was all fun in that car. BTW the S3 was my weekend and road trip car I have a Subaru Cross Trek I use to commute to work so 14k miles in 12 months on a weekend car is pretty good.

The one thing I loved about the S3 was the MMI and navigation were so easy to use - not as simple on the GTS but I bought the GTS for what is hopefully going to be a pretty " pure sports car experience ".

Also another reason I got rid of the S3 is I got a decent trade in price and I see a glut of 2016 S3's sitting on dealer lots and the prices seem to be dropping. Also there will probably be some lease returns from the MY 15'c coming onto the market as well as guys looking to trade up to RS 3's - so I see the prices of S3,s depreciating pretty quickly in the near future.

Well, I'd take a Cayman GTS over an S3 any day . I didn't like the S3 tbh, the DCT was jerky and didn't want to play nice at low speeds. It felt entirely different from my fiancée's S4 or even the new 2017 A4 I got as a loaner (DCT was incredible in that car). I like the look of the S3, and the car was fun between 2nd and 4th on the twisty road the salesman put me on, but the transmission threw both my fiancée and I to other cars.

Not sure what this means for the US market. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
