    Sounds like Q5 / SQ5 have a "white noise" generator???? = fixed

I can have climate system off, radio system off, and I continue to hear a low his or white noise from the front passenger footwell or door speaker area.

Can anyone confirm we have some kind of "white noise" generator or active noise cancelling?

And can it be disabled. It drives me crazy.

You do have a soundaktor. It generates a fake and crappy engine noise that some people actually like. It is located under the wiper cowl on the passenger side right below the air inlet for the HVAC. It is about 3" in diameter and you can either unplug it or reduce the volume to zero via VCDS.

Ahh OK. I was just about to ask if it was the MMI hard-drive. With everything else off, I can hear it very faintly. If it's a hiss coming from one speaker, that's not anything i hear in mine

I figured it out. The noise I was hearing is the cooling unit for the cooled cup holder. It is loud. Not sure if it is a fan or a compressor or what, but the noise comes and goes with the on / off button on the cooled cup holders.
