    No Front o2's?

Forgive me as I am new to the s4 world. I recently picked up a Stage 3 F21 car and have been prepping for it to pass PA state emissions.

Car runs well but I have been babying it because it has no front o2 sensors(or rears).

From what I am told by the previous owner, the guy who had it before him had a wideband setup on it. It's been tuned for what is currently on car(see sig).

So my question is, what is the advantage this dude saw with removing the o2 sensor system? I assume tighter tuning with better logging?

Followup question, if I am to pass PA state emissions I most definitely need to get a catalytic system on the car. Does anyone know if PA checks for a specific number of catalytic converters on the car and if they check for o2 sensors? I am considering just getting a catted mid pipe setup from SSAC to meet physical check then eventually getting the front o2's back in and getting a retune(or move to a wideband setup myself.)

Would adding high flow cats to the midpipe substantially affect the tune?

Most places wont bust your balls on insp/em if the cel is working, off, and there are no codes.
Also need readiness to be set. Can be 2 down on our cars.

Dont go to one of the free or cheap places. They make money on the repairs they find, and they will find something.
The guys that charge a reasonable rate are a little more honest and arent looking for a reason to make up the loss.

You need to talk to the po and find out wtf is going on with that tune.
No front o2s is usually a nono, but they have these ecus fingered out pretty well these days.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Thanks for your reply. I have a mechanic who I always take my cars to. He is a family friend so I get good prices but he is also a stickler when it comes to inspections. Good because he catches all the little details, bad cause there is always something that needs done. I don't see him overlooking the catless exhaust but I am not sure about the o2 sensor thing.

I want to pick up VCDS to test readiness, not sure if VCDS lite does it I forget. There is no CEL so I assume the o2 code was turned off but not sure about the readiness. Motoza's website describes the process as you flash ECU with their tune, do some hard driving and send logs back to them, and they tweak the tune. Not sure how dedicated the guy was to getting it right and I don't have a way to contact him as it was the owner before the guy I bought the car from. I sent Motoza an email to see if they can help me get some info on it.

If the ecu says it is good to go, cats wont be a problem. Unless he wants them to be.

VCDS is a necessity with these cars.
Readiness is generic odb2 so you can check with most any scanner, vatozone or whatever should let you use one.
