Will the upcoming Audi S4 have port injection for the new motor? I'm just wondering because of carbon buildup issues

It'll definitely be direct injection... Not sure if the European versions if the b9 s4 will have a dual injection setup on the new single turbo v6.. like the 2.0ts have in Europe.. stinks we don't get factory dual injection motors...

The couple of technical articles I've read on the engine said that it has direct injection as well as a second set of injectors in the intake similar to the new Toyota/Lexus engines. However, carbon build up really isn't an issue in the final versions on the B8.5 engines.

Interesting... If this dual injection v6 makes it to the united states... It may be European only..

If what I read was correct then they'll bring it to North America. They're not going to build 2 different versions of the same engine.

Audi has previously done that with the 2.0T: The European S3 gets dual-injection, whereas the US S3 does not.

Yeah well my main concern is carbon buildup, but since this new engine was co-developed with Porsche, who is known for reliability and bullet proof engines, I don't know if it is an issue.

The problem with CR surveys is they're self reporting so lots of people accept problems as "normal" and don't report them. For example, my grandfather had a Buick Roadmaster back in the 1980s that was a piece of garbage yet he loved it for some reason and always ranked it as perfect when he sent in his CR surveys.

Porsche has had its share of problems; the IMS issue that affected cars from 1997 - 2008 or the 2015 911 GT3s that all needed their engines replaced and then a bunch needed the engine replaced a second time.

I wondered why Buick was ranked in the top half of brands for reliability, whereas the rest of GM was near the bottom, and concluded that it was due to the low miles driven by elderly Buick owners.

I have a friend thats a Porsche tech that brought up the very issues with direct injection on new 911 engines.. it's happening.. build up on valves is happening.. Porsche doesn't care!

I really don't see audi bringing the dual injection b9 s4 to the states.. they don't have too just like the s3 and golf R.. Europe standards ironically are more stringent then epa ,dot in the states!..
That was one of the reasons behind dual injection motors.. better emissions, along with better power, and cleaner intake valves!

It wouldn't be an exotic without a couple of engines catching fire .

I see a lot of older Porsches driving around but I'm sure they have issues like any other brand. I haven't heard or read anything bad about the Panamera and Cayenne.

I'm not expecting Toyota or Honda level reliability, but I would like Audi/VW to fix these damn carbon issues and I would hope they engined the new engine around that. I would pay a little more to have port injection along with direct. You would figure Audi would at least include it.
