2.0T Oil Return Line Leak at Pan

Did search but did not find anything.

I had a slight leak at the oil return line fitting at the oil pan. I bought a new gasket from the dealer and decided to replace it when I changed the oil.

Took it apart, cleaned off the pan/line fitting, installed the new gasket, tightened the bolts and finished my oil change.

The leak actually now seems to be a bit worse! Did I miss something? Should I have put some RTV sealant on it or is the OEM gasket junk and I need aftermarket?

    tks

No special sealant is required. Was there any damage to the sealing surfaces?

No damage that I could see. Both surfaces seemed pretty smooth.

Is it possibly dripping from the flex hose?? Driving down the line and appearing to be at the pan?

Well after screwing with this all weekend it's not the hose or the fitting. It's dripping from above the fitting and just trickling down the oil pan and dripping off the end of the fitting on the oil pan....frustrating. I hate oil leaks but it sounds like from searching replacing the pan gasket is a PITA

The oil pan is sealed with a liquid rtv style sealant. I've used Elring Dirko exclusively for oil pans and have never had a leak. Just make sure both surfaces are clean and dry before applying.
