CCM went bad, not sure why..?

I've searched the forum and found that in most cases people's CCM fries or burns out from water or after installing lights or speakers or doing some kind of electrical work/mods.

I haven't done anything with my car that includes electronics in over 4 months. The last thing i did was install an AUX port, which was during the spring. Over the last month or so, my dome lights and trunk light stopped working completely whether its using the on/off switch or opening/closing the door. I do have LED's installed(over a year ago) for all the interior lights, the ones under the dash and under the rear seats work just fine. I checked the Central Convenience Module fuse and its fine. I did not get water inside the car at any point, carpet is not wet, module did not have any moisture. Are these known to go bad after some time?

I scanned the car with Vag-Com, and got the following:

Address 46: Central Conv. Labels: 8E0-959-433-MAX.lbl
    Part No: 8E0 959 433 CP

    Subsystem 4 - Part No: 8E0959802E
    Component: Tőrsteuer.HR BRM 0606

    4 Faults Found:
01330 - Central Control Module for Central Convenience (J393)
53-10 - Supply Voltage Too Low - Intermittent
00962 - Alarm via. Tilt Sensor
    35-00 - -
01369 - Alarm triggered by Hood Switch
    35-00 - -
    00532 - Supply Voltage B+
    37-00 - Faulty

I did take out the CCM module to inspect it, don't see anything physically burned or fried on it, but port #1 (the largest one) does have a electric burn smell to it, as well as the relay or whatever thats behind it.

My heart sank when i looked online at how much these cost, $500+, wth. If these are known to go bad, probably wouldn't make sense to buy a used one?

After reinstalling the module and reconnecting the battery, i reprogrammed the key and now the lights turn on for about 2 seconds when i open the door and then turn off.

I can't answer as to why it went bad. Sorry to hear either way! I'm on my third ccm but that's because I had/have crazy water issues. I haven't had a carpet in my avant pretty much all year as a result. I can tell you I haven't had any issues with running a used module. I bought one on ebay for like $120 bucks and my third one from Wolf auto parts for slightly more I think. Still much cheaper than buying new.
    I drive a truck now.

Thanks to 65vetteC6, was able to buy a used CCM off him. Replaced my bad one, reprogrammed key with VAG-COM, everything works just as it should.
