Anyone running RS Turbos + Tune without Downpipe?

I was told that RS and S8 Turbos are the same. If so, I'm thinking of maybe moving to bigger RS Turbos in my A8L 4.0T, but I do not want the dealer to know that I have done any work on the engine. I think sticking with OEM RS Turbos I would be safe if the car was inspected, but Downpipes would definitely give the modding away.

So, anyone running RS Turbos without Downpipes and is it worth it?

Not doing down pipes in theory should be perfectly fine. The RS7 in stage 1 does just fine with the stock down pipes. You would just need to get Simone to do a tune for that setup

Rs7 and s8 turbos are not the same they are different part numbers

Issue you run into is anyone selling a tune for rs turbos will assume you have a downpipe so asking the company to rewrite a tune for you might be costly

I thought you said it was a different part number so I assumed it would not work. Will RS turbos work on the A8 4.0T? Where are you guys sourcing the RS turbos from?

If stage 2 requires down pipes then I would think stage 3 would require them too. I asked a while back about is downpipes are really needed on such a small increase in the tune and everyone said yes even though some said the down pipes were the same on the RS models!
