Noise while turning left...VIDEO inside now.

My daughter took this from the back seat today. This noise has gotten worse now, and it only happens when i turn left. This turn was from a stop in a neighborhood, so low speed. I do have an exhaust leak (Borla) and getting my front pipes replaced next week, so not sure if this would make the sound. Odd thing is when I turn right, no noise, just left. It almost feels like a grinding as I can feel a rumble inside the car. My shop checked the exhaust and nothing seemed to be rubbing anywhere, and being a low speed turn there really is not much movement yet. The actual noise is about the 5-9 second mark of the video. Thoughts??

Damn, nothing? Getting frustrated as hell here, can not turn left at all without feeling like something is going to fall off the bottom of the damn car.

Have you checked rear end links and sub-frame bolts? I had an end link bolt back out on the right side that gave me a metal on metal contact sound on right turns over bumps. I heard it every day entering my driveway. Recommend checking/tightening your rear end links and marking them with a paint pen to see if they back out.

Also, these are my exhaust connectors which are getting adjusted this week when I get the front pipes installed. Would any leak in these areas cause a noise under the car when only turning left though??

Could it be your tire is rubbing? You have more mass on the driver side, with you and the passenger.

I'd think a proper inspection with the car on a hoist would identify the issue in no time. Why have you not just brought it in to a shop or dealer and have them diagnose it? I know your shop had a look but that noise is too loud for it not to be identifiable. Even if you have to pay a diagnosis fee you will know for certain what it is vs having a bunch of us guess??

To me it does not sound like exhaust slapping against something. That is rotational grinding. It's going to be a wheel hub or something else rotational.

I've had 2 separate shops look at it. Both drove it first, heard the noise, then could find nothing under the car causing it. I was driving it today in a straight line and drifted right, then turned left a little bit, grinding noise every time. I am taking it back this week to get the brake/exhaust fixed, so I will have them take a look at the rear right wheel area again to see what they can find. I can take it to Audi, but would have to get the tune removed, so wanted to get it done by a local shop first. Just wanted to put it here to see if anyone had a similar issue in the past, really driving me nuts now, and even worse than 2 separate shops who have worked on my car before cannot find a damn thing causing the noise.

If you're drifting left to right and hear it on the one wheel that has the load then it is probably your wheel bearing. Do you hear humming when you're coasting at higher speeds?

I was drifting on purpose though so i could pull the car back to the left to see if i heard the noise, which I did every time i pulled the car back to the left. No noise at all when I coast at higher speeds either, only when i turn left around corners or even turn around a bend. The sharper I pull the wheel to the left, the worse the noise gets.

Have you checked your CV axle? Torn boot?
Your video sounds similar to this @20 seconds. I couldn't bear to watch the entire video...

Yep, that was looked at too, nothing wrong there. I really wonder if it is something in the differential, but still odd that only when I go left. I can go around a bend slowly, hear the noise, then pull the wheel a little harder left and it gets louder. Maybe something in the FRONT right wheel, but the sound just happens to sound like it is back farther due to vibrations? Damn this is really getting frustrating, i drive the car now like a wuss and hate turning left.

    SOLVED.

Looks like it was the exhaust leak after all causing the issue. Had the new front pipes installed this week sent by Borla, and the noise seems to be gone. Engine vibration at 2200 RPM gone, and now the awful left turn noise is gone too. Been driving a few days now since the new pipes, and cannot notice it anymore. It was pretty damn hard to miss too. Combo of the leak with the force from the turns must have cause some weird shuttering/vibration under the car. Glad it's gone now, no vibration, car fun to drive again finally!

Nice. Glad you got it figured out. You've been having a bunch of issues lately. Now you can enjoy the car again!

Ugh dammit! Well the overall engine vibration is still totally gone, but now a few weeks later the left turn noise is back, but not quite as bad. Noticed it again the other day when turning, and again today. Exhaust was adjusted a few weeks ago with the new front pipes installed, noise stopped, but now is back. I wonder if something really is just rubbing on the right side slightly from the torque of turning?? Didn't noticed any marks that would indicate rubbing, but a little bummed it came back. I find myself every time I turn left now taking it easy and hyper listening! Damn.

I have the same issue, or at least it seems the same from the description. Did you ever fix the issue 100%? I'm getting ready to pull my exhaust off and see if I can figure out what's going on. I'm hoping it's not the diff or the driveshaft bearing.
