I've pretty much decided that it's time for wheels, but want some real world feedback from those that have gone with the 295/40/20 tires. I love the aesthetics, and feel like the 20X10 +25 Full Satin CI-R would pretty much be the perfect fit for my car, but have some reservations. I'm not someone who has modded cars previously, and this is my first Audi. My work/work horse car is a 2015 Outback. On that car I added some BBS XA wheels that were 1.5" wider than stock with 10mm more aggressive offset, and went with a tire that was only 10mm wider than stock. Grip was decidedly better, but the steering felt profoundly heavier, and the car just felt sort of bound up through turns. That experience makes me hesitant to go in that same direction, but even more so, on the SQ. I know it's apples to oranges, but... I also have some concerns about wear on wheel bearings, power steering, etc., but those are very much secondary to how I'd like the ride. I'm also considering playing it safe and just going 20X9 +25 in the same wheel with the 255/45/20. I'm about to do a slight drop, but due to driveway issues I'm only able to go down 1", so Euro height more or less. The 295 would help the cause in eating up some of the fender gap, but I've also only seen pics of the 295 on more dramatically lowered cars. Wondering if it would look goofy with a more mellow drop. So for those rolling on 295s, what do you think about how they feel?

I didn't go with the 295 only because I didn't research it, had I known the Conti existed in that size I would have. I'm on the Nitto 285/40/20 for now and I feel zero ill effects on steering and drive ability. Car handles great, and feels significantly more planted.

20x9 +25 won't be flush. I'm not sure if that's important to you. If it is, you should avoid it because your wheels will be too far inside the fender.

These are 295/35ZR21, but the overall diameter is the same. It isn't lowered at all.

I haven't run 295s but have run 255s on a 20x9 ET30 setup and currently run 275s on a 20x10 ET25 setup. There's definitely more steering effort on the wider setup, but keep in mind that's probably not just the tires and likely has to do with the change in the steering geometry's scrub radius with the lower offset wheels. I actually like the fact that there's a bit more road feel and feedback, because the stock setup is kind of lacking to start with. I'm guessing on your Outback the change pushed you a bit beyond that happy balance point.

As far as being flush, 20x9 ET25 should actually be flush up front.

FWIW, those 20x10 CI-R's (black) and 275/40 Conti DWS are locked on my radar. I've heard nothing but good things regarding ride, stability, steering/handling, wet handling, etc. My days of going with the widest tire possible are way back in the rear view mirror - I have to admit, 295's haven't crossed my mind. IME/IMO, the costs of too-big a contact patch quickly outweigh the benefits. If you're trying to put a gazillion horsepower to the ground while turning over 1g, I guess it makes sense. Otherwise, acceleration, fuel economy, tracking, and wet handling all suffer.

I'm quite happy with 295 DWS 06 on 20x10et25 CI-R's courtesy of Mops. (about 1.5" lower than stock) No complaints here, other than wishing they were 21", and maybe even a bit wider!

Yeah, some of the things already mentioned were my concern/suspicion. I would rather go 275, but given my limitations with lowering I think going to the smaller diameter, slight as it might be, only hurts my cause in terms of clearance and increasing the fender gap.

255/50 and 275/45 are just two options that come to mind....you don't always have to go wider to accomplish the goal.

I'm running 20x10 +25 bathurst on 295/40/20 DWS06 on my SQ that is lowered on H&R springs (1.5" drop). I too have a slight driveway issue where I have to back out at an angle to be safe and Ive had no problems. With the wider tires, you do feel more of the road as #Riceboy22 mentioned, but for me, that's what I want. In terms of fuel economy, I haven't noticed any difference and I commute 70 miles daily. #Buggravy, IMO you'll be just fine with the 20x10 CI-R running on either 275 or 295. Also the 295 does eat up a hair more fender gap than the 275. Me likes!

I'm sure the shipping would make things painful, but I confess I've been tempted to hit you up for a quote. Budgetarily speaking, I'm a few months out, but the IwantItNowMeter is ticking loudly.

Lmao! Funny my first wife hated when I did stuff to my cars or her cars. Got divorced and met my current girlfriend who allows me to do whatever I want. She's so good I bought her a 2016 A6 3.0T and I did a few things to her car and she loves it. What a world of difference in women.

I started modding my wife's car when we were dating, allowed me to test the water, she was cool with it. Now, I buy her a new car and on day 1 she is already asking for wheels, tint, and usually upgrading the stereo...lol. Picked up a Sienna last Octber and before 30'days had gone by, it had 20s, tint, dynamat (cause she said the doors sounded flimsy), a self contained powered sub, and retrofitted headlights!

Needless to say, I don't get any grief. It's an expectation, no car stays stock.
