    Cool STaSIS Ohlins Motorsport Coilovers

Yea, I said it. STaSIS Ohlins. Those Ohlins TTX kits (PSI) are way to pricey at $4,995 - $6,495 for the 3-way adjustable kit, but they sure would be sweet.
There is nothing that ties an Audi together like a set of properly paired and tuned Ohlins. Best handling car I've ever driven was a previous customer of mine's STaSiS tuned 13' RS5 w/ Ohlins Challenge Suspension. Hugged the bumpy curves in the back roads of WV like a beastly go-kart.

Looking for ------ These bad boys:

Best setup made for the b5, hands down:

Nice little b5 website from another forum member:

I'd be interested in a used but in good to excellent condition, I do NOT want to have to turn around immediately and be required to rebuild them. So please, I don't want your unfinished project parts. STaSIS was always real aggressive with their rebuild schedules (in order to maximize their warranty risk on their end), so every 15k or whatever they had said can be stretched. I think the only people who still rebuild these is PSI or Ohlins direct for a chunk of change.

Or, I'd settle for a nice newer set of KW V3s....those'l have to do if no Ohlins tymee.

If it's a street car and/DD I'd opt for the V3's TBH. The Öhlins based coilover setups were realistically never intended to tolerate the kind of abuse streetcar suspensions see on public roads. I'm going to be running a set of Anze Engineering coilovers (based on the Penske Racing 8300 series dampers - $4100) on my road course car, but I definitely wouldn't even consider such a setup for a street car.

Those are race car suspensions that require regular professional rebuilds to keep them in proper working order and you can expect those rebuilds to cost you $500+ to have them done by a qualified suspension shop like PSI or Anze. Most people with a street car simply don't need that level of fine tuning in a street car.

In the end it's your money, do with it what you want, but I'd bet a set of V3's would suit 9 of 10 streetcars just perfectly without all the maintenance required with race car suspensions. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

^ thanks, I appreciate it. The b5 was recenly retired from daily driver life (thank God), so eventually the mods I'm looking at doing would be track-car oriented.

But you are right, V3s might be my best bet for a street car that occassionly see's some track time

Bought a set of used stasis/ohlins, never ran them but looked up how often you need to rebuild them and how much it costs each time so I sold them. Have a set of KW V3's on one of my b5's and it drives 100x better than all the other setups I've been in. Your car but my vote is V3's new for half the cost of ohlins

From the Stasis Manual on these:

"Öhlins’ LMJ stock car shock absorbers are based on the race proven Öhlins 46HRC."

Damper Settings: "Performance Street", "Aggressive Street", "Performance Track"
"All STaSIS Motor Sport damper kits are delivered with the “Aggressive Street” setting."

"As this suspension system is a race car derived kit with high performance components, routine maintenance is required to insure the optimal operation of your suspension system."

"The STaSIS Motorsport Coil Over system is designed to be as maintenance free as possible."

The service interval to maintain the lifetime limited warranty was every 12 months or 12,000 miles, being performed by Stasis, at a cost of $399. With Stasis no longer around we're left to debate what a reasonable service interval is. I wasn't present when Stasis defined the intended environment for use, but the wording in the owner's manual leads me to believe it was on the street, or track.

There is someone on Hartford Craigslist selling 7 month old KW v3's for $1800. No idea if they are willing to ship though.

I'm looking for the same setup for my track B5. If you still have them I'm interested.
