Car has like a tick I guess u could say emitting from left side of motor. Looking it up people say it's the direct injection sound? But is it?
Edit: should also add car has no idle issues and has the kick in power it should.

Seems just a tad louder then I'd expect. I'm just worried it's the timing chain problem

sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

that noise could be your chain/tensioner. I have a 2009, and the DI noise was louder and started to hear a rattle type noise...turns out my tensioner was at its wits end and the chain had so much slack it was ripping through the tensioner cover.

I would at least get your tensioner checked/replaced. common issue on b8s and worth getting done before more serious damage is done to the engine.

i did most of the timing components and it was a $1200 job. by just doing the tensioner you will save mainly on parts (chains, guides, etc) but labor will be pretty similar (maybe an hour or two less)
