    Hey guys,
I decided to go a different direction with my exhaust and I'm thinking of selling my Capristo. It is in excellent condition, any idea what I should ask for it? At $4500 new, I'm thinking $2500 would be fair, what do you think?

You should go the custom route, my buddy has his RS5 with a custom 3inch straight pipe with an xpipe in the center and modified mufflers and it sounds more exotic now like a maserati.

    2500 is fair

Beast, yes that is what I did. We build lots of custom systems at our shop. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, we can legally do whatever we want after the cats in California.

What's the cost of a custom system run? Also, any videos of the custom system on the RS5? I've been hoping to find a used Capristo but I'm curious as to what the custom build sounds like.

I'd love to sell you my Capristo. We do custom systems from $1K installed.

Thanks. I'll check those out. Has he mentioned any noticeable drone? It sounds like the Capristo is a good mix of being loud when you want it and quiet when you don't want to wake the neighbors. I'm guessing the custom set up isn't valved so it's probably going to be pretty loud all the time?

I have driven the car myself and did not notice any drone... he still has valve function but one of the valves is permanently shut because with both open it is way too loud haha.

This is not ideal for performance, he should look at maybe adding a couple of resonators so that he can have both valves operate.

I'm definitely considering it, plus we had already talked about having you throw some lowering springs on along with an alignment anyway so it would be cool to get it all done at once. Timing isn't great right now but I'm still kicking around the idea anyway.

Sounds like you prefer the custom systems which is why you're getting rid of the Capristo? What do you like about the customs over the Capristo?

The Cap is great in quiet mode and awesome in loud with the windows up, however, windows down the Cap has a raspy blatty note that isn't my favorite. It sounds more domestic muscle to me rather than high rev Euro. It gets lots of compliments, but I like the higher pitch note that is smoother between gear changes the way we build the system.

That's good to know. Is the blatty note on the down shift? I've never heard anything besides my car (sports exhaust) in person and the concern I had with the Cap was the blatty sound that comes across in videos but everybody said wasn't bad in person. The same blat would come at really high revs from the videos I watched too. That sound is what originally made me more interested in the AWE but I didn't like that the AWE isn't valved and the Cap gets so much praise around here that I started thinking it was the better choice.

I'm definitely interested in the more euro pitched smoother sound. You guys can make them valved too? Any videos of your builds? The one beast mentioned was too short to get a good idea. My biggest complaint right now is that the sport exhaust just isn't loud enough valves open.

you can always do what I did which is add AWE non resonated downpipes to the stock sports exhaust. It really opened up the V8, i'd say 60-70% louder over stock valves open.

Contact @ Mops@supremepower for them, he got me a great deal

Here is a vid comparing my sports exhaust+ downpipe combo to my friends 3 inch straight pipe full exhaust I mentioned earlier

I have kicked that idea around too but from the videos I saw is it sounded a little sloppy to me. Is that not the case in person? I'm pretty sure we've talked about it before when somebody had non-res pipes for sale and it was just no drone was what I was asking about then. I've only seen one video though so if you've got more I'd be up to give them a look.

Beast, thanks for the vids, more vids out there are always helpful in what I do. I will say that both of those cars sound aggressive and honestly not far from what the Capristo produces. It is the raspy blattiness that I don't like, especially between gear changes, no offense. We have solved this with our custom system by separating the quiet muffler from the valves and using an X-pipe. The stock sport exhaust, Capristo, and even the Akrapovic have the valves after the main mufflers and none use an X-pipe.

On another note, I am officially listing the Capristo for sale for $2500 plus shipping. If you do a local pick up I will install it for free.

Just wanted to add to this post real quick, I bought the capristo exhaust from mufflerman he was talking about in this post and wanted to say that everything came in shipped and packaged PERFECTLY, exhaust and hardware looked brand new and sounds great. I love the capristo I got from him so I can't comment on his exhaust he is fabricating, but as a seller he's a stand up guy! Thanks again man!
