If your engine is warm already, and it's that low, definitely! Otherwise, just a little.

Yes. Then in a day or so, check it in a day or so. I generally put a piece of electrical or duct tape on the reservoir at the fluid line for future reference. If you continue to lose fluid, keep an eye our for Water pump and T stat problems. BTW, all of my 3 B8 s4s lost a little fluid over time.

Engine temp? Cold, then of course yes. If hot, let it cool and check level again filling as needed.

Went to dealer today and they topped it off up to max line when i had the oil changed. I will monitor the fluid level just to make sure there is no leak. How long should it take before it goes to min level?

He doesn't own all of them right now. He's had 3 different B8s over the years.

I always fill my coolant expansion tanks to full when cold in the morning...especially in the s4 since the hx uses the same fluid.

Leased a 2010. Traded it in before lease and, got $6k in equity. Then leased a 2014 to replace the 2010. After a yr, I traded in the second one for a used 2011 which I am currently driving. I became disabled and had to sell my practice. Leasing was no longer financially advantageous. Still can't find anything in the price range that i like better.

Sorry to hear all that but at least you still get to drive a car you love!

My coolant level does not change that much with cooling. In the evening after driving home from work, level is slightly above max, and the next morning, it's at max. So, should not change too much.

So I checked my engine coolant fluid level after the dealer topped it off on the max line and when I checked again today after driving the car and turned of engine its below the max line after 5 days only. Is there a possible leak? I have 21k miles on the car 2014.

I'll go back to the dealer once the fluid is near min level. Should I return to stock tune? I have APR stage 1.

This just happened on my 2013 B8.5 S4 with 35K miles ... Brought it to Dealer and they found that my electronic Thermostat had failed. I got no overheating as it failed slightly open but it did produce high enough pressures to push coolant out of the water pump weep hole and the vent plugs on top of the supercharger. The leaks were small but they did result in coolant level dropping in reservoir to the point that I got a check coolant warning. I bought my car used and this was covered under warranty (50K/ 4 yrs).

    Good Luck!

Pop the hood in the morning when the car is cold and top off the coolant expansion tank with distilled water until it's at the max line. Drive it a few days and recheck the level when the car is cold. Always check it at the same time so you compare apples to apples.

I did an oil change on Sunday and noticed small coolant pool on the belly pan. There are streaks here and there. I guess my car has a small leak somewhere.

Does the B8 take G12? I have a 50:50 premix from my B5 I can top it off with for now and keep an eye on it.

I'm not stage 1 as I just bought car about 7 weeks ago and it was not TD1 so I am guessing it wasn't flashed prior to me purchasing it. They had my car 3 times until they totally fixed my issue and each time it took them about 2 days. My dealer gives loaners for service events that are expecting to take longer then 4 hours.

First time, they replaced water pump because the said the weep hole has an excessive leak.
(1 week later) Second time, they found the failed thermostat bc it finally threw a code
(1 week later after the second service) Third time, found the bypass vent plugs on the supercharger had popped out under the pressure built up when thermostat was sticking.

BTW, I know this took them awhile and was frustrating but my dealership treated me really well and I understand the diagnosing that led to all of the service events.

Glad the car is ok now. Thanks for the info, hopefully the dealer would be good to me.
