What to do with the B5 after B8 purchase

    Hello all,

I got an '09 the other day, woo! But this leaves me with an '01 in the driveway that I have about had my fill of tinkering on. What should I do with it?

    Motor:
06a block (decked, bored and honed)
    awm head (surfaced)
    arp bolts
    sodium filled inconel valves
    Scat Rods
    IE pistons 81.5mm (20mm wrist)
    F21L
    550cc bosch injectors
    034 crankcase ventilation kit
It was balanced and I can provide measurements/blueprint but basically .5mm oversize pistons, bored and honed cylinders to 0.005 larger than pistons

    Transmission:

    Tiptronic
    Recently overhauled
More recently blew out shaft seal and 4th-5th slip under power I hear this is how they go, pressure regulator allows 450psi instead of 150 and that's the weak link

I came home to an ebay fmic kit on my porch today lol, was not expecting to buy another car but the opportunity presented itself

    Unfortunately your options are:

    -Sell it cheap.
-Part it out (at least the motor, throw a stock one back in)

Honestly it sounds like good 01E swap candidate.

1st thing id so is ditch the slushbox.
Next since your motors built do a bigger turbo like a efr or gtx. Pagparts kit comes to mind if you do gtx route.
Basically make it a weekend fun car.

Well I was keeping the awm head to limit torque, but I guess that wasn't enough. I feel like if I were going to 01E, I might as well drop in an ls6 and forget about the whole current powerplant situation. It is really disappointing because I just installed a new lower seat(try and find one lol) and after all that investment. nada says it's worth $2k in good condition so sell the motor and scrap the rolling chassis? I doubt anyone looking for a 1.8 engine has tuning software laying around in the first place...

You don't need to worry about the head really. Toss cams in if you want or feel the need. Efr setup and ur good. 01a is fine no reason or need for the 6speed. With the money you spent your better off keeping the car. Talk 2 dan or check his build thread his car seems super fun.

I'm doing a similar thing b5 will be project mess around car. And daily a b7 rs4 with minor mods.

Most people looking for a built 1.8t will have easy access to a tuner and or be running maestro. Plus with nefmoto its not hard to find someone to write you a custom file these days.
